2006 Infiniti G35 Sedan 2WD P0340 code

Hello,
I recently had check engine light, VDC of, and slip lights all come on in my car. I experience the typical power loss and stalling that a lot of others have mentioned that is typical of faulty camposition sensors. My P0340 code indicated Bank 1, which I changed immediately but the lights were still on and now my car took about 3 seconds of cranking to start. I had the alternator and starter checked and they were both good and I bought a new battery since mine was old but still had the lights and the code. Cleaned the throttle body and MAF sensor and ran sea foam through intake system and power and performance significantly improved but still had the lights and the code. Changed the Bank 2 camposition sensor last night and now there is no longer a delay for the car to start; however, I still have the P0340 code. Should I go ahead and change the crankshaft position sensor to see if this clears the problem or are there other recommendations? Thank you for your time.

Did you use a Hitachi or Genuine Nissan Parts cam sensor?

EDIT: Also, you have an automatic transmission correct?

Ok just making sure you didn't have a rev-up engine in yours. There's a REALLY good chance your aftermarket cam sensor won't work, it's strongly recommended to only use Hitachi (the manufacturer of the OEM sensors) or a Genuine Nissan Parts one (pay more for the dealership markup but your local Nissan will carry them in-stock).

Thanks. I think I am going to replace my Bank1 sensor. i got it from Autozone but the Bank 2 is a genuine Nissan part. Before I changed the Bank 1, though I had the CEL, VDC, and Slip lights the car wasn't taking 3 seconds to start, just ran like crap while I operated it. Began taking 3 seconds to start once I changed the Bank 1 sensor with the Autozone, non-Nissan sensor. This cleared up though when I replaced Bank 2 with a Nissan sensor but lights are still on. Will replace Bank 1 with a Nissan sensor tonight and let you know if that clears it up.

Should I go ahead and change the Crankshaft position sensor even though I don't have the code saying it is bad yet?

I would leave the existing crank sensor for now.

Your VDC/SLIP lights can be any number of things but the easiest one is low brake fluid. Top it off and see if that clears up those lights, if not then you probably need to get it OBD2 scanned with someone that can do chassis codes because there are ABS sensors on each wheel that can fail, as well as internal problems in the ABS pump and VDC controller.

Fixed with Hitachi Bank 1 Camshaft Position sensor

Thanks for the help. I was able to fix this with a Hitachi sensor. I will not be purchasing any 3rd party parts in the future.

There's a LOT of components that you can get away with purchasing aftermarket stuff for, unfortunately these vehicles are incredibly particular about the cam/crank phase sensors though so you should stick with Hitachi/OEM for them. Just ask around in the forums in the future when you need to repair and see what the community suggests.
