Hey, my name is Ethan! I’m new to the Infiniti family and have started planning different parts to replace. I’m looking to get new valve covers but I’ve been seeing different brands other than the OEM ones that are a bit cheaper. Looking for some insight to these other brands and which ones I should look out for.
Also here’s my G. Thanks for the responses!
I would stick to OE/OEM for valve covers. The link I attached are made by Nissan so I see this as your best option. Besides, do any "aftermarket" options even exist and if they do, what sort of performance benefits will you see? If anything, fitment would be off.
I had to replace my covers/gaskets due to oil pooling. Factory parts are king in a lot of replacement applications.
I went with OEM were the only option for awhile. I saw on Amazon there are some aluminum ones, but can't comment on their fitment, reliability, etc..
the aluminum ones use wood screws to hold the baffle plate to the cover 🤣. People have reported they fall out and destroy top ends. Brilliant! You can replace them with proper screws and they’ll “look cool” but I would 1000% avoid.
paint some oem covers if you want shiny bits . That’s what I’m doing. I’m actually modding the oem covers to put new spark seals in.
Just buy oem gaskets and spark tube seals, you can reuse your factory covers unless they broke.
The OEM style plastic ones from eBay seem to hold up pretty good, haven't heard any complaints from folks using them over the years.
The factory well tube seals need to be drilled out if you want to reuse your existing ones and just regasket it, there's a few threads about this floating around if you look up "G35 350Z spark plug well tube seal replacement".
