So excited to have my first G35 coupe and happy to be part of this community!
I just bought this car, it's on hold for me to pick up tomorrow and I have a question:
Do you think I can get over speed bumps at my apartment complex with this car lowered? I'll take them slow and at an angle. The seller told me that he did it, that the suspension is good and I could pay to have it back up to stock height, which I may have to save to do.
Any approximation on how much something like that costs?
I just absolutely fell in love with it and wanted your advice.
Thanks!
Glad to meet everyone! 😃
Depends on the situation tbh. You’ll know when you get to the apartment lot ha.
if they are coils they may have ride height adjustment.
OEM stuff can be pretty reasonably. I’m not sure if KYB Excel G’s can still be easily found; but there are a ton of options on sites like rock auto too.
That thing is lowered to perfection. I wouldnt mess with the height haha. But you will need to go slow and at an angle over bumps and into driveways and dips. Some stuff u just cant avoid though and its gonna rub no matter what.
Not all speed bumps are created equal, you'll find out when you get to them
If that little lip below the front bumper drags that's fine, it's just a piece of polyurethane. If you're getting into other stuff under the car that's going to need to be raised a little.
Personally I'd raise it up just enough that you can get about a finger's width between the tire and the fender, that gives me just enough clearance to not damage my oil pan but I am running a spacer so it sits a little lower. You never know what kind of debris you'll find in the road and it helps to have a LITTLE bit of safety margin because you can't always drive around it when you have traffic in the way.

I made it in just Fine! I was worried for nothing. 🤣
But I will be extra careful with it.
The guy did throw in the factory suspension. It's in the trunk. And he said I could always stay in touch with him. So that's good.
I don't know how I'll feel about it down the road being so low, but right now I'm enjoying the ride!
I really enjoy the looks of it and it's the kind of car I've always wanted, but never had! ❣️

Yes, I do love the looks of it. But I think if I decide to raise it, you're right. Maybe just a little bit more.
Having a safety margin to work with is good advice. If or when I do, I'm probably going to post on here asking for that advice or what to tell the shop and costs so I don't get ripped off; all that.
I'm glad I belong to such a good group! 🙂
