What’s up guys new user here and first time post. Heard great things about this specific forum and how this is the place to get the necessary info for all G35 related issues.

Im having issues with my 05 g35x and the key being recognized.
I let the car sit for a year unfortunately and recently decided to jump it.
jumped it and it started with no problems. Before jumping it, I changed the battery inside the fob because it’s been so long.
I let it run for about 2 hours and then shut it off. Went to start it again and I got the key signal.
I have charged the battery and tried using the physical key multiple times just to be met with the same red key symbol.

Anybody have suggestions ? I ordered a new key fob and key but I was made aware that I need to get the physical key cut to the VIN and the fob programmed.

Sounds like the immobilizer is locking you out. We can completely bypass it with an Uprev reflash. Either ship me the ECU to flash here then send back, or I can send you an Uprev cable so you can flash it there. All you need is a windows laptop, and in addition to fixing the NATS issue (immobilizer) we will make your car MUCH more fun to drive

 

Thanks Seymore, I forgot to mention that this happened in the past and the person working on my car was able to bypass it by doing something with the steering wheel.
Any advice on how I can get around my issue myself? I’m not too car savvy, but willing to learn. Hopefully once we get her to turn over I wouldn’t mind fixing this problem with you once and for all as you stated above.


Btw please fill me in on what you meant by making the car much more fun to drive.

Disabling NATS isn't something you can do yourself, it has to be done by a professional tuner such as me. You can upload the file yourself (flash the ECU by connecting your laptop to the OBD2) but I have to send you the file to use.

This is just an extra feature that we can do with the Uprev tune; the real beneift is to get the car running 100%. Uprev is custom tuning software that lets us flash the factory ECU and custom program it to the way it SHOULD have come from the factory. Optimizing the fuel, ignition timing, throttle, etc. Really wakes it up, much more responsive throttle and around 20 hp to the wheels gain. Even completely stock VQ's notice a big improvement in overall driveability. Then there's the ARC features-- launch control, rolling anti lag, the burnout mod-- if you're into that kind of stuff

With Uprev you also get the added benefit of map switching-- up to 5 maps that you switch through in real time using the cruise control buttons.

I ended up getting the problem fixed today by paying a local locksmith $100 to make and program the new key. Took a minute to recognize it, but it starts no problem and the key is recognized. Fob works as well.
