This is my first post on this forum, so thank you for allowing me to register here. Two days ago, I accidentally left my key in the ignition of my 2006 INFINITI G35x sedan overnight in the "On" position. The next morning, my car was completely dead, so I attempted to jump it. The jump did charge the battery briefly, but the car would not turn over. I then purchased a new Duralast Gold 35-DLG battery and installed it (correctly), but my car will still not turn over, although all of the dash lights turn on and everything else seems to be working properly. My second thoughts were that (1) I may have left my car running overnight or (2) the fuel pump failed. I put four gallons of fuel in the tank and realized it was still nearly full as I had just recently filled the gas tank. I then listened to hear whether the fuel pump was pumping fuel and it seemed to be working properly. I also checked the fuel pump fuse for damage, but it is still good. When I try to start my car, it seems to want to turn over but won't. If anyone has any suggestions about how I can get my car started, I would greatly appreciate the help.
Your "new" battery probably is discharged, put it on a charger for 24 hours and try again.
You can also jump start at this point. You can't usually jumpstart a fully discharged battery because it takes so much current from the other vehicle just to try to get the battery up a little that the voltage drop is still too low and thus can't crank a fully dead battery.
You can measure voltage with a DMM while cranking, it's probably dipping far below 12 volts.
How do you know it was fully charged? Did you test it with a charger?
You cannot test capacity with a digital multimeter that's not how batteries work, a charger will tell you that f it's ACTUALLY full.
Those batteries on the shelf are almost certainly discharged to some degree and I've had to charge at least half the batteries I've ever bought.
You can put a DMM on the battery while cranking the motor and watch the voltage drop to get an idea he w much charge it has, it shouldn't be dropping below 12 v when trying to crank, if it does then you need to charge the battery.
If it is fully charged and still having issues cranking it's ts probably the starter. Fortunately it's easy to remove if it's on the right side of the engine, I had one in and out of the car 3 times last weekend (long story...).
Torque is 41 ft/lbs for the mounting bolts, 81 INCH/lbs for the wire terminal nut.
Front and rear cameras, tire pressure for all four tires can display on screen, folding side view mir

Before you remove the starter, test the individual battery cells with a battery hydrometer. Even a brand new battery can have one or more cells that will not accept a full charge even after being on a slow overnight battery charger.
cleric670, when I purchased the new battery at Autozone, I had them test it and it was charged over 90%. I actually discovered what the issue was. Less than a week prior to me leaving the key in the ignition, I had my car in a local shop to replace the left-front wheel bearing and hub assembly, and when they disconnected my battery, they did something to the chip in the key and attempted to reprogram it improperly. When my car died a few days later and I put in the new battery, the key chip would not read, so I took my car to the INFINITI dealership where they reprogrammed the key. Now it starts without any issues. Thank you for all of your input. I appreciate it.
Ahh yeah, that little telltale red LED (NATS/IVIS indicator light on the left side of the dash), when that thing is solid red while trying to crank the engine that means the car doesn't recognize the key.
If the car doesn't recognize the key it will also turn on the CEL and throw code P1614 or P1615, depends on if it can't find ANY rfid chip, or if it reads the rfid chip but it doesn't have the correct code.
After 5 failed attempts the ECM goes into lockout mode (IVIS) and the car won't even crank and it will throw the diagnostic code P1615.
It is pretty hard to notice that the CEL is actually on because it was already on from just turning the key to the ON position when it does the lamp check on the dash, it will stay on and FLASH if there's a NATS/IVIS error.
Easier to just watch the red LED indicator next to the dash because it should be OFF when cranking the car, if it's on and solid red that means it doesn't recognize the key and won't give spark/fuel. 5 failed attemps and it's in lockout mode and won't crank.
