Probably a tough question to answer. BUT
I just bought a 2006 G35 6mt 9 days ago... and have a question about mileage. I am in the break-in process right now, and am going to follow it properly... Then I am going to drive the car in a normal manner (drive is spirited, like it is meant to be driven, but not beat on the car).
My question: How long / How many miles can I expect to get out of this engine? I will religiously change the oil every 2500 - 3000 miles, will only be using 91 or 93 octane fuel, and will be garage kept. I am not talking about clutches or brakes... but how many miles until the engine will start to give up?
The reason: I currently drive 65 miles per day (highway) to work and back and go on 8 hours trips on the weekend sometimes. I financed the car for 6 years. I want to make sure the car is still running when I pay it off
Thanks for any responses or experiences with a high mileage G

Should be fine for your intended use. While I don't think there are a lot of G's with a ton of miles on them, I do know that the VQ engine in the Maxima has seen 200,000+ miles for a good number of owners. Treat it well, as you intend to, and you should get some high miles out of this engine.
I haven't read any posts on here of people who have lost the G's engine... ...other than the cases where people have gone forced-induction.

Nissan engines are pretty solid. The engine itself will probably go over 200k miles. But the transmission isn't the best in the world, so it would probably go before the engine does. I'm sure you'll be sick of the car and ready for a change before it dies.
As an added question to this, my old Nissan 240 had a timing chain, does this engine use a chain or belt?

What matters is engine speed, so, just switching gears helps a bit. But if you're going the same speed and just going between 5th and 6th, you aren't varying the rpm's much. Its a good idea to speed up and slow down a bit too.
