OEM BOSE HEADUNIT ERROR – a girl needs her music! Someone help me pleaseeee :)

What’s up boys.... Ok to its been a week with no CDs for me I have a 2003 G Coupe and my Bose Head unit got the CD ERR FO error message... So I tried convincing my husband to replace it with a Stock unit but he says there’s no point to replace it with a stock unit when it will just break again. He refuses to waste money on the stock unit. He wants me to get a Double Din Pioneer or something but I love the stock look. Do any of you guys have the Stock CD Changer lying around that I can buy cheap.... We live in Central NJ.... let me know guys!

By the way this is my husbands account. Mine is “sumK” I just created the account so I still can post anything (I don’t like that rule). You can PM there or reply to this post…. Either way please help me get my CD Player fixed.

Thanks,

Sumayya

Are you still under warranty? It sounds like you aren't since you mentioned that you might have to waste money on a stock unit. I'm about to get my HU replaced under warranty, and in addition to it being free, here are the other reasons to consider straight replacement. Slight modifications were made to the stock unit between the 03 and 04 model years that supposedly increased the speed of disc changing and fixed the issue of the left speaker channel going out. So replacing the 03 HU with an 04 or later version may help stop the problem.

Anyone out there with an 04-05 HU that can confirm/refute the above?

Thanks and good luck.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention this: If you are going to have to pay to replace it, go ahead and do the double DIN thing and get an aftermarket system. You can get a much better unit for the same or less than replacing the factory system. I'm only replacing because it's free.

i have an 2004.5 coupe... my OEM Bose headunit still changes CDs very slowly, and exhibits loss of sound in the front left speaker whenever i accelerate hard or make a hard right turn... infiniti (or clarion, who manufactures the headunit) has done nothing to fix the problem between the 03 and 04 model years

if you have to pay to replace it, be warned that the dealer price of the factory headunit is very high.. i don't rememebr the exact price of it, but i think it comes close to $2,000.00... i strongly discourage purchasing an OEM unit at that price

best of luck

if you like the stock look, but want aftermarket sound, there are always more creative solutions:

for example, what i did:

Hope this helps!

Nice job sillief00l. Can you buy that modified lower console piece or did you make it yourself?

the lower console was a custom job
i am very happy with it

i am not sure if you could get in trouble for that... i'm not sure how infiniti does things, but i know acura keeps a rollling database of VINs associated with OEM Radio serial numbers... they do this so that they can keep track of radio security codes if the radios ever need to be reset, but they would also be able to tell if a radio doesn't belong to the car...

if you do end up doing the swap-warranty thing, let us know how it turns out... i'm sure alot of people who want to fix their headunits will follow suit

well i'm sure you can always find someone with a stock head unit sitting around too if the dealership does not cover the radio under warranty.
