Boston does not have potholes, we have craters and bottomless pits.

I did not know that insurance would cover bent rims. I think i'll contact them for all 4 of mine.

Quote: true on that! i was driving down rt16 in everett heading towards medford on friday night wen the snow was melting and i didnt know there was a TRENCH in the middle of the road until i hit it. it ate my whole car! i noticed the next morning i had a huge bubble on my pass side front tire.. ****! then my buddy pulls up in his STi and i look at his rims and he has a huge dent on the front and rear rims on the pass side..****! i felt worse for him

I saw that trench too. It almost got me.

It's all from this warm spell we had around Xmas. We had that first storm and ice and then we had two days of 60 degree temps to thaw and melt everything. All the snow melted, went into the ground and then we got our latest cold snap and it's pothole city!

I hit a nice one last night. I cringed when i nailed it but it didn't do any damage to my wheels...thank god for stock 17's and 215/55's! lol

i have a question.
will insurance always cover bent rims or tire damaged caused by potholes?
will that cause the premiums to go up if one files a claim here in MA?

how does one get reimburse for rims? (sorry i dont know)

thank you

Last pothole I hit destroyed one rim (years ago) so I contacted the town.
They had me write a letter to their attny's office which went unanswered for months.
I began to nag weekly and they ended up paying for the damage.

PITA, but it was better than invoking my insurance and getting hit with possible surcharges.

I thought insurance companies would contact the town for you? Well, that's what they told me back in the day when I hit a pothole and it destroyed my rim. The insurance company though didn't do anything for a year and when I called them, they had no clue what happened and supposedly it never got looked into, so I threatened to sue them...lets just say, they paid up within hours for a whole new rim and tire.
