2 tickets 57 in 35 and no turn signal va cops are so full of s#@t

got pulled over by a norfolk city cop on granby st he says you know why i pulled you over and i said the only reason i can think of is speeding because i was going 42 in a 35 which is what my speedo said because i looked to make sure when i passed the speedlimit 35 sign. ther were 4 other cars on the same road 2 sedans and a mini van and the other was behind me i didnt see it, going the same speed cuz i wasnt passing or pulling closer to them. the cop said i got you for 57 in a 35 and failure to signal lane change. which is total BS because i use my turn signal every time i turn no matter if im turning off of my dead end street into my housing complex even into my driveway. and the only time i changed lanes was about 1mile from where i got pulled over so why didnt he pull me then? i figured he was following me cuz i didnt see him sitting anywhere there is a median with only turn lanes no where to sit and post up. but he said it was radar, and city cops dont have moving radar. he had a mean attitude. i rarely drive faster then 5 over the limit i stopped getting tickets 4 years ago. haven't had one since. this is total BS then he was like i realize you have a fast car but there is a time and place for that. and this isnt it. he put on the ticket that i am black and im not, puerto ricans are darker then me .

so my service engine , vdc and slip lights are on maybe this could mess up my speedo. but i dont think so cuz i have an escort 9500ix and it shows your speed based on gps readings.and it said 43, but i cant use that in court because they are illegal here. i think im a victim or profiling i think the cop saw a sports car and just wanted to pull me over. and in va they are not required to show you the radar even if you ask.

any one have any advice? think it would be worth it to gt a lawyer?

sorry for punctuation stuff

end of rant!!!

Go to court, and keep pushing the date back, until the cop doesn't show up.

fight the ticket,
you have nothing to loose by fighting it.
citymunky has a good option, you can do it 2-3 times before the court calls BS and doesn't give you another extension.

if you loose, pay the ticket, then steal some thing from the state to make it even. (don't forget to tack on the insurance hike and a pain in the *** tax)

if he said he said he go you with radar you can do the following in the state of va.

1. ask to see the trainning record of the officer to see if he is up to date on radar use. (they have to be retrained every few years)...if its exp. youll win
2. question how the radar was calibrated and when it was last calibrated resently by the maker. (ask for the records)...you may get it tossed of reduced

VA04G35, you seem really knowledgeable about this stuff; I'm happy you're here to help. Maybe you can help me; I need to learn about this.

Exactly what is the specific periodic retraining timetable for radar operators? Can you provide me with some information regarding the appropriate training and retraining curriculum?

i was a criminal justice major (5 years ago) and had to do an intership with the local pd for 6 months. i believe in the state of va officers have to be retrained every 3 (maybe 5) years. with the vbpb officers are trained in the class room at the academy and in the field by their f.t.o. before being opproved to use radar etc. as far a retraining im not sure, i was shown by one officer is paperwork that said he need to be retrained in 14 months to use radar.

I'd should think the fact that the cop wrote down racial information on the citation will help get the tickets thrown out, if you go to court. I mean, what's that about? I've never had 'little white girl' written on any of the tickets I've gotten over the years.

When you get pulled over, I believe you can request to see his radar to make sure he really got you at 57. I may be wrong, but it is what I have always been told.
