Herb Chambers Infiniti - First Impression
So, I decided that the 90 minute trek to Warwick, RI was too much for just an oil change now that Infiniti is right here in Westboro, MA so I decided to give them a chance.
I get there at 9 (15 minutes early for my apt) and they were able to pull it in a little early. I'm told that since I also need a state inspection done, they'll need to take it next door to Herb's Ford dealership.
I'm watching through the service window and the car is pulling in a little attention from the techs. They're looking underneath at the exhaust and under the hood at the intakes and stuff.... whatever.
As soon as it's down, I see the guy playing with his little computer gadget. I ask what they're doing and I'm told they're pairing my TPMS sensors, since the light was on. (I have aftermarket sensors in the summer wheels but never got around to pairing them) After about 10 minutes, I'm told they can't do it. I never asked them to, but thanks for trying anyways.
I walk outside to watch them pull it out and into Ford, as I worry about how my car is treated and from outside, I see that they are going to exit from the other side of the garage. I walk through the building and from the waiting room window, I see my car lurch out like a shot and the guys rips through the parking lot, hits the brakes hard to round a corner, lurches forward again, hits the brakes for a speed bump and then shoots forward to where it's being parked. He then proceeds to rev the crap out of my car 5 or 6 times to hear the exhaust/intake combo I assume. Keep in mind that I am inside and 100 feet away and I can clearly hear my car revving like crazy.
I walk outside and as the guy walked in, I gave him the look of death. The service advisor walks over to tell me it will be a few minutes and I told him what happened (I wasn't very happy) He apologized and said he would speak to the tech. I asked to see the general manager but of course, he was busy.
I know these things happen so, yes, I watch for them. I expect them to treat my car with the respect it deserves... and like I'm sitting right there in the passenger seat when the drive it.
I'm now choosing my words carefully as I prepare to write my email to the general manager and to Herb Chambers.

Credit where credit is due
So, I'm on rt 20 in Auburn Thursday night, near Chuck's Steak House, and I hit a huge bump in the road. It was raining and dark so I didn't see it coming.... scared the crap out of me.
I'm on my way to work the next morning, in the left lane of the pike and out of nowhere, the car starts to shake... I thought I had a flat tire. I slowed down, got to the right and pulled into a highway access ramp area. I check the car but have no flat, all tires are at 32 psi, lugs are tight, wheels are secure and visually, everything looks great. Against better judgement, with no other options, I call Herb Chambers in Westboro and ask if they can check the car. They are booked and ask me to come in next week. I explain that I'm worried about the safety aspect so they have me bring it in.
As soon as I pull in, the service manager comes over and says, "I remember you from last Summer. Let me again apologize for what happened. That tech no longer is employed here." I admit that I was pretty mad that day, so it would be difficult to forget me.
He says, "I know you don't like us washing your car in the Summer... how do you feel it in the Winter?". I told him that in the Summer, they end up making it dirtier than when it went in, but in the Winter... it always needs a quick bath but not to worry about it. It was raining/snowing on Friday anyway. They pull the car into the shop for analysis () and I'm hoping for something simple like a broken front sway or something. He comes over after about an hour and says that I have a blown CV Boot and a wheel bearing that's on the way out as well. Neither one is covered under warranty but considering what happened, they are covering it for me. They also washed the car. He said, even if it's only clean for 5 minutes, enjoy it.
It's drivable, so I limped it home and it goes in Tuesday for repair since they didn't have any loaners at the time.
Credit where it's due. They remembered me, admitted they screwed up and took care of me.
I'll still drive to Warwick for warranty work when I can as they have always treated me like royalty, but these guys (so far) appear to be taking care of me.
I'll post final results after the repair and now it's time to go after Auburn for fvcking up my car.

There are always good and bad. When I bought my car from them, the finance manager told me i could deduct interest from my car loan... IRS website says can't on interest on personal loans such as auto,...hmmmm...
When i asked him to cancel my maintenance plan on the phone, he tapped his keyboard loudly a few times, said he did, but never asked for my name, VIN, nothing... hmmmm....
Called Infiniti Consumer Affairs., said left three messages with the dealership about refund, no return call from them, so we're both waiting for an answer for my refund....hmmmmm....
so there you go...
Both times, he said he's never had a problem with anyone.
