Ahhhhhh Stickkkkk....

Well the topic is pretty "homo" sounding lol, sry i dont mean to offend anyone but today was a great day for me!! I was at my boys house who actually just joined, i helped him with that Gthre35ive, we traded cars for 15 minutes. Now about 2 weeks ago i was driving my friend TSX and stalled like 7 times and that was the first time in my LIFE ever i stalled like that, in his car also man i dunno what was going on. So today i had 15 minutes by myself, not one stall, shake back and forth or anything, it was like ive been driving for years LOL, then with my newly acquired skills i was shifting fast, chirping up to 3rd gear with hardly any lag man i LOVE the 6spd in the G35 oupe, i drove my friends TSX tonight with no problem, my friends 330ci 5 spd and i was killin it!! Man im so excited, i want a manual soooooo badly and i was just meant for it, just thought id share with my G squad peep'ssss!!

Re: Ahhhhhh Stickkkkk....

Manual is the only way to go man. I've been driving manual since I started out with an Explorer sport 5 speed (very rare) and I love it. Believe it or not I suck at driving an auto. I usually go for the clutch that isn't there and grab that big a$$ brake pedal. Manual all the way, anyone that says oh I dont want to drive it in traffic just plain doesn't know. It's a pretty easy thing to do not like the older cars that actually gave you a workout when engaging the clutch. But hey whatever floats it for ya I guess..

Re: Ahhhhhh Stickkkkk....

the fact you learned to drive stick well so fast is pretty impressive. Ive given tons of leasons in my G to other people and ussualy it isnt good.

If you wanna really sharpen your skills, practice quick downshiftin on the hwy. Try easy shifts first .... like 6 to 5 ..... 6 to 4 , if you wanna get a lil more into it, just try a 6 to 3 shift (any speed under 80, you'll be able to grab 3rd.)

Driving stick is great! Ive been doing it for years and its the only way I roll.

ILL... I think you're a 6MT Coupe owner in the shell of a Sedan!! This G is my first stick, and took me a good week to get used to the catch point, shifting smoothly, etc... I'm practicing my Heel/Toe driving, downshifting, gunning around corners in the power band, etc. still... I just love how much control of the car you have with a stick!!

When's your lease up so you can switch over to the dark side?!

Stall 10 times... stall a million times. The frustration and embarrassment all go away when you drop that sucker at 4,000 RPM!

Re: Ahhhhhh Stickkkkk....

Nick - You had a 5 speed explore sport too!!! LMAO!!! Tell me it was black and I'll really be laughing my **** off! I actually just sold mine in Feb and bought an auto Expetition. I got my 91 Explorer Sport in 95 with 50K and sold it last Feb with 220K!!!! Nice choice in rides! That truck didn't owe me a dime!

Re: Ahhhhhh Stickkkkk....

Daym!! now thats what I call gettin your money worth. Mine was a 94 and it was white. I still to this day miss that truck but I dont think mine was makin it to 220k without some serious repairs so i sold it and bought the 97 prelude. That truck was sweet though I put a custom front bumper on her with some nice billet wheels and big tires, then a sh*t load of audio gear. Great truck but the speed factor pulled me over to the Lude then the G!

Re: Ahhhhhh Stickkkkk....

Ahhhhh! I'll post some pics when I get home. I had 31's everything blacked out, lund grill inserts and some dark **** tint! Then I added a lil sumtin sumtin to make it go boom! I had (3) JL Audio 10WO's with a kicker amp. Man that thing pounded!
I replaced the original clutch at 120K, and when I got it back, the spider gears in the rear busted up, locked the rear and instead of simply breaking a UJoint that I could have fixed on the cheap, it snapped the mainshaft in the tranny! The only other major repair was new heads b/c I cracked mine (totally my fault for driving it longer than I knew I should)! Oh and the damn 4x4 sucked in it! Never worked right! LOL Still a fun truck!! Awww I miss her! Many good times!

Re: Ahhhhhh Stickkkkk....

DELETE these damm non thread related posts hahahah jk guys!!!! Anyway my lease is up in 2 years But im heading over to the dealership today with my friend, try and work something out!! Yea my downshifting was no problem at all, come from 4th to 3rd let up slowly while easing ont he gas the slightest bit and you didnt even notice a downshift!! I have to say though, the vibrations of the shift **** got annoying but got me so pumped to grip it tighter, you felt in tune with youa nd the car unlike the 330ci who was buttery smooth, it didnt feel sporty at all!!

Re: Ahhhhhh Stickkkkk....

Martin what you do on the downshift is rev it and let the clutch up quick... By letting the clutch slip up your going to cause more wear and tear on the clutch

Re: Ahhhhhh Stickkkkk....

Yeah sorry about the hijacking of the thread lol. I dont know wbout heel toe with me it's more like left side of right foot on brake, right side of right foot on gas lol. Works good enough to rev match through the turns for me and it's set up percectly in the G for me to pull it off.
