CHP's on 101/280/85

FYI-

Becareful guy and gals. Have fun, but keep on the look out for CHP on 101, 280, and 85. Some of you are already aware of this, but in case you don't know:

HIGHWAY PATROL IS CRACKING DOWN ON SOUTH BAY LEAD FOOTERS
By Gary Richards
Mercury News

The California Highway Patrol is cracking down on speeders at a pace never seen before in the South Bay, issuing nearly 1,400 tickets last month. At that rate, the CHP would quadruple the number of tickets issued last year.

A newly created five-trooper team is swarming a stretch of road every weekday, sometimes nabbing speeders twice on the same trip, and this isn't just some temporary tactic.

The goal is to make the South Bay an area where flying down a freeway at 80 to 90 mph is not tolerated.

There is alot more to this article, but did not want to bore you guys.

I'll believe it on 880 when I see it. Hopefully they'll nab some of these dumba*ses that weave and tailgate, but there are just waaay to many drivers compared to cops. I came from Seattle where if you do 10 above on the freeway you are going to get caught quick. Here, reckless driving and over-speeding are rampant. In WA, there was a like a cop per every square mile, here, they are no where to be found; unless your in a hood.

Also remember that they are now traveling in packs of 5 CHP officers so if you pass one don't be shocked to see one up the road a little bit.

Time to invest in a radar detector. Yesterday i saw two cops pull over two different cars at the same spot on 280N near Page Mill RD exit.

Ya, this is no joke. About three weeks ago there was a group of about 7 CHP each with one car pulled over on westbound 80 near American Canyon. I don't know how they're picking who to pull over but it looks like they just pull over a group of cars at a time. Hell, it was sorta like a group buy for infractions or something.

Officers use Lidar, which shoots a laser at approaching traffic and can pinpoint the offending speeder.
