Vortech ppl. Need help

I went to Zcargarage to get the price quote for couple things below
1)Vortech SC
2)DC Headers
3)JWT Cams

and total amount is $9,900 with install and dyno tune.
Is the price legit?
I think the price seems pretty high so need advice.

Thanks

Ouch !!! Always wonder'n what that cost Zcar is one of those "you get what you pay for" garages (done right the 1st time by pro's, but don't expect discounts) . Just IMO, no 1st hand experience to date.

Rob is a good guy but he also knows he is the only one in N.Cal and takes advantage of it.
What is the break down like...6,600 parts and 3,300 labor?

That sounds about right coming from rob. Ditto on what Paul said, my car is actually still there so if you want to see and hear what it will sound like ask Rob to give you a sample

if you want to be sure you're getting a good rate, you should call around to different z/g shops and ask how many hours they book for a vortech/headers/cams install. it'll probably be 16-18 hours. then look @ z's labor rate and see if the price is fair. also, is it possible to even tune vortech on the SS box? don't you need an EMS?

$10k seems steep to me, but i don't know a lot about FI installs

ouch that will empty the piggy bank fast! I echo what was said above, Zcar knows they are the only game in town, you might find other shops to do it for less, but no on has the experience with the VQ that Zcar does, at least in Norcal. If you are going FI you want it done right the first time. In fact once you make the jump to FI $$$ will flow out of your wallet on a constant basis, more so if you get a crappy install. I've been to their shop a few times to check things out, they are always very professional and take time to answer any questions you have. If I was going FI I'd probably let them do it even if it means spending more.

The Vortech does use the SS box as that is what the full kit comes with.
Back in the day when I had my Vortech, I took it to Rob for the smaller belt and plenum and cam work and it was a fair price.

Ah gotcha, well I know it is not that bad of a system as VRT uses it all them time on their JWT built cars but there are better systems out there, I myself switched to the unichip for my vortech setup and now I have the Fcon on my TT kit so all in all I think I have seen the differences between the EMS out there.
