I know I don't really "belong" over here but Trey showed me the pic so I had to come see what it was. That same thing has happened to us TWICE at the same interchange in the last 5 years. It sucks major but luckily it appears you guys didn't have any fatalities.

Ok, popping in again.

You guys are really lucky. I'm assuming that you all have a good public transportation system there? Sounds like they are doing the right thing and actually trying to make it easier for people instead of the usual government thing.

The state spent wicked money to fix ours the second time around. They paid something like $250,000 a day for every day UNDER the initial time estimate given by the construction company as a bonus for finishing faster. I've never seen roadwork get done so quickly!

That is definitely some good incentive to work faster for those construction guys. Hopefully they do something similar to fix the 580-80 connection.

I really feel for those who have to adjust their routes or rely on that interchange area. That one area affects all others. I'm over in Sacramento, a decent while away from the area of the accident and I felt some affects during my morning commute. Supposedly there was some trickling of traffic from 80 that went all the way to Sac. Just wonderful

Yeah, I saw it on the news, flames and steel strutures melt down. Good news that nobody serious hurt. If that happend during the rush hours, it could be a lot more worst. I think it would take us some time to rebuild it!!!!

Random thought - maybe this will get those people who say "the WTC couldn't have collapsed simply from burning jet fuel" to shut the hell up.

We flew over this when landing at Oakland Airport yesterday. It was pretty crazy to see from above too!

It was eerily traffic free this morning on Hwy 24.
It will be interesting to see how people will get around in the next few months.

well. i drove by it this morning. quite a sight to see firsthand in your car. looked like a scene from sarajevo or beirut during their lawless heydays. i'm one of the few that is going to brave the commute home i guess. i'm planning to leave around 4 or 4:30 though
