Pete said that the mechanic will look at the starter relay that does the remote start - the mechanic thinks it may also have been a culprit. in any case, mach3 is an authorized python dealer, and i can ask them to replace the relay, just in case.

Got my car back today. Definitely feels slower than the 07 loaner, but i don't care! i love her anyway! Pete took care of me, fair and square. Very nice guy, a car guy, chatted with me for a while about my mods and his camaros' mods and his wife's harley and stuff. I'm definitely going back if I need service.

Good to hear you got it back. Did they find anything wrong with the starter relay?

they couldn't find the starter relay. the mechanic thinks the headers that are sitting quite close to the starter may be the cause. well, w/e. i don't drive nearly as much as i used to, so it's gonna last me a while.

What the hell?

Remote start shouldn't have any problems though.

remote start works just fine. the starter sounds a lot better now, there is no chatter when it's disengaging - like it did before. oh well, w/e. i asked Mach3 to order me some heatshield wrap, and will wrap the headers in that where it's close to the starter. should be ok.

on another note - do you guys know if it's worth it to do the alignment right after new shocks/springs are installed, or if's worth it to wait a little (how little?) to let the springs settle?

Definitely wait until the springs settle. There's no point in getting the alignment done before becuase it'll be off again once the springs settles.

i thought about it some, and yeah you're probably right. i called them and told them to not do the alignment today. besides, their alignment machine is bork. so, good. i'll schedule for a saturday a couple of weeks from now to do alignment.

got my car back from Mach3. the drop is perfect! will post pics in another thread.

asked them to order 15 feet of heat-wrap, will have them wrap the header next to the starter next time i'm there. will also do alignment and have them set the shocks softer - they set it to 8 (out of 16), needs to be more like 2. will probably also set the sways to soft/soft (from medium/medium).

just got off the phone with mach3 - my header wrap came in, i'll have them wrap the header part that's next to the starter with it - going in on the 19th. problem solved. will also have alignment done, set sways to soft/soft, and set shocks to the softest setting.

Hopefully that wrap will keep enough of the heat away from the starter and keep it from frying again. Good luck with everything.

You dropped your car? I seriously never thought I'd see this day come! Link to pics ASAP please. BTW, do you still have your OEM headers laying around by chance?
