Recommendation for tire shop in Palo Alto area?

Hey all,

Have to replace my tires, and am loathe to go through dealer. Anyone have any recommendations in the Palo Alto/Menlo Park area? Thanks!

Just go to tirerack.com, pick out the set you want, and they can be drop shipped to almost any local tire shop.....or you can bid tireracks price to the shop to get a deal. You'll save a bunch and can get better tires than the oem ones. As far as a specific shop, I can't help you there.

Hey Tony, Try 5 points in Red Wood city, their price might not be cheap but they do offer great service, you could always purchase tires from TireRack and then have 5 points install it...

5points are very professional, if you're looking for a quicker solution, there's another tire shop (forget what it's called) in the huge plaze off of el camino in redwood city that has Target, Kraken autoparts, Marshalls, etc...just drive north along el camino and it'll be on your right, you'll see it. I've heard good things about them but never tried them.

I personally would try to buy them from tirerack and have 5points or the tire shop above install em. Or you could shop around for prices and get the best deal..

i'd recommend wheel works. they deal with aftermarket wheels all the time. they'll price match tires usually too.

I hear mixed reviews on Wheel Works. They also WAY overpriced my friend when he asked for a quote. He called back a second time, and the quote was even higher.

+1111 for Tirerack.com. They have great reviews, too. That's how I found this local installer in San Carlos. I had my tires from EdgeRacing.com shipped directly to them. EdgeRacing had the tires I wanted for my Mazda 6 at the lowest price anywhere -- even after the $15/tire shipping. No tax for CA, I think.

^ I'd second that on Wheel Works.

+1. I've had very good experiences with these guys. They're a family owned independent shop so you can get almost any tire from them. Not many independent shops around.

+2 on Wheel Works... I used to work at a Wheel Works putting on rims/tires. I know I can't speak for all locations and all Wheel Works employees, but let's just say... we didn't always treat cars all that nicely. Also, I tried to ask for a quote on the Bridgestone RE050A that we have on our car because my friend got a non-repairable flat, and Wheel Works wanted at least $30 over the next tire shop my friend and i were at... and this was a "hook-up price" from my old boss too... WTF...

Of all wheels tires and alignment places near me, I prefer the Wheel Works on El Camino in Sunnyvale... right before 85. Although prices at Wheel Works are a bit high, they do very good alignments for $90. I hate how other shops want to try to jack up the prices to $150 or more if your car is dropped...
