Nothing personal, officer. I obviously know that the institution of law enforcement is a necessary one, and I have huge respect for both the awesome power of the police and the dedication of the people who risk their lives to protect ours, in a much more meaningful way than the army does.

But honestly, I'm feeling oppressed: these days especially, I've seen so many cops just lying in waiting, ready to pull over and ruin another honest citizen's day. Motorcycle cops, hiding behind bushes! Please explain to me, how is some poor idiot going 50 in an empty road any sort of priority for police? Leave us alone, let us manage the driving, you deal with the actual dangers society faces.

Please don't pull me over because I said this.. again, I have nothing but respect for both the theory of law enforcement and the men and women in it...but come on..you pull someone over, see he's a normal person doing normal things, just let him go..

I'm really interested to hear the answer of a police officer to what I've said, I guess you guys see any "law breaking" as enough of a justification for punishment, whereas I have more of a "justice" or "spirit of the law" perspective.
tr0ll.

Now that that's out of the way -- you can have my job... I don't want it anymore. And that's the point... most people don't like their jobs.

My only piece of advice as a married/family man (no kids here... yet, but I'm married)... don't leave your current job without a new one. Don't express your displeasure with the place in front of your coworkers, and most of all when you do leave and put in your notice, don't burn your bridges -- especially if you're staying in the same field.

My bro is a sheriff for SF county. Why don't you consider that instead of PD? Its a little safer job especially if you work graveyard when all the inmates in the jails are supposed to be asleep.

I know you said you don't want to work on cars, but the CHP does need good auto mechanics. We have 3 in our office. Every office has some. Or you could go work at the Academy in Sac preparing cars.

I knew someone who opened up a shop and handled the mechanical issues for this local Security Patrol company... it turned out pretty well and not to mention his own security patroling his shop lol

u cant imagine how much those patrol cars goes thru wear and tear
There were quite a few perks of knowing some sort of law enforcement also got introduced to some CHP work as well... some of them are nice... but could also be justified by saying they need their car fixed from u

No... that would be called poetic justice.

What do you mean "like 80-85"? You know how fast you were going. So did you get a ticket? What speed did the office write in the speed box? And what do you mean "middle of the ****ing night?!" What do you think we're supposed to be doing? Speed is one of the many ways we find drunks.

BTW, I don't write g35 drivers (yeah right). That would be like writing tickets in my own neighborhood. I would never hear the end of it. And I don't work in the SF office.

We all know that speeding is against the law, yet most of us have sped at one time or another, sometimes in excess of 100 MPH. If we get caught, well.... we get caught. We knew the risks.

right, I agree with you, so: pull over people who are speeding, check to see if they are drunk, incapacitated, idiots, criminals, etc, and if they're not, let them go..

I was going between 80 and 85mph, the officer put down "80+" on my ticket, whatever that means, cuz he said he reduced my speed so that I could be eligible for traffic school.

it wasnt that late, about 11pm, but the highway was bloody deserted. I can do the i280 with my eyes closed at 135mph, I dont need anyone telling me I cant handle my car at 85.

I'm really trying hard not to engage you on this, but did you ever consider the fact that maybe YOU can handle your car at 85, but someone else can't handle theirs at 50?

Car accidents are fatal because of the difference (delta-v) between your speed and the object you hit. The higher the difference, the more likely it is to be a fatality.

You may be the best driver in the world -- it's the other idiots you have to watch out for.
