Exclamation Can anyone help a fellow G owner out with a job?

This may sound pathetic but hey it is worth a shot. I will stereotype for a minute. It is my impression that most G owners are successful and that is why they drive nice cars. I was doing really well myself for a while that is why I own 2 of them. I was a mechanic for a while and left that sweet job for what i thought was greener pastures but of course we all know most the time they arent (live and learn). I am not stuck at this other job that is horrible and I do not really want to work on cars again unless someone has a sweet offer but I am more or less looking to get into the business side of things. I have a wife with a baby on the way and I was going to start my own business but when we found out she was pregnant I put that on hold. I am looking for something I can make a career out of and support my family. I hope I havent waisted anyones time on this post but if anyone out there knows of a job opening somewhere making decent money and want to help a fellow G owner out I would greatly appreciate it and be forever debted to you. Thank you very much!!

Jason

Thanks for the advice I kind of forgot about that stuff. Well I have a 2 year degree in Automotive Technology from a trade school. I have great people skills, very dependable, hard worker. I have about 3 years in the automotive field not including school. I have over a year in property management which entailed some accounts payable/receivable, customer service. I am about to take my state real estate salesperson exam.

If you've got any computer technology skills or are looking to start, I'd suggest checking out dice.com (http://www.dice.com). This will get a lot of traffic to your resume.

Well basically i am a service advisor/technician but i think what makes it so horrible is they took back there offer of how much they were going to pay me once i got there and had left my other job. So now i make significantly less money than before and it is taking a toll on me my wife and im sure my unborn child since my wife is stressed.

Sorry, Jason, I cannot offer any help. However, you may wish to consider g35 chippie's suggestion. Although it may present some risks, at times . . . I have many friends and family members whom are in Law Enforcement. They find their work very rewarding and rewarding it is.

In any event, I trust that you find something that suits you and your family. Good luck to you!

Well before I met my wife i was about to go into the marines. Im glad i deceided against it. Next I have always had a facination with being a firefighter, Next I wanted to be a CHP or police officer. My wife doesnt like the latter ones as she claims she doesnt want my kids growning up without a dad. I feel for her but i guess i just long to help people but when you are married it is a 2 way street so i cant just go and do it. Thanks andy! I am still hoping somebody will post something for me. Thanks to everyone that has offered any advice.

If you want to be a firefighter AND a police officer, then take a look at Sunnyvale Department of Safety. If money is your main goal, those guys start at somewhere in the neighborhood of 100k, along with Palo Alto PD. We don't make nearly as much, but I don't pay into Social Security or retirement, either. 90% after 30 years doesn't sound so bad especially when I don't have to pay a dime into it. You can even have money with held to retire at 100-110%. It's a huge decision. Make sure your entire family is supportive otherwise it will be very difficult. My roomates wife fought him the entire stay at the Academy for his decision. On his first day reporting to his field office, he quit to save his marriage. What a waste of my time, your time, and our vehicle registration dollars. PM me if I can be of more service.

Cops..

Leave normal people alone and go do something useful..like -gasp- fighting crime.

As an honest, productive, intellectual, and positive citizen, I am in constant fear of police, because I occasionally drive fast, don't wear my seatbelt, and have this crazy idea that my free time is mine to be enjoyed in any way I choose to.

Nothing personal, officer. I obviously know that the institution of law enforcement is a necessary one, and I have huge respect for both the awesome power of the police and the dedication of the people who risk their lives to protect ours, in a much more meaningful way than the army does.

But honestly, I'm feeling oppressed: these days especially, I've seen so many cops just lying in waiting, ready to pull over and ruin another honest citizen's day. Motorcycle cops, hiding behind bushes! Please explain to me, how is some poor idiot going 50 in an empty road any sort of priority for police? Leave us alone, let us manage the driving, you deal with the actual dangers society faces.

Please don't pull me over because I said this.. again, I have nothing but respect for both the theory of law enforcement and the men and women in it...but come on..you pull someone over, see he's a normal person doing normal things, just let him go..

I'm really interested to hear the answer of a police officer to what I've said, I guess you guys see any "law breaking" as enough of a justification for punishment, whereas I have more of a "justice" or "spirit of the law" perspective.
