"Only in California" do we have these crazy laws.
You have 3 options:
1. fix the problem
2. ignore the problem and deal with the ticket + fines.
3. Get out of California

Do any of you guys/gals who don't have a front license plate ever go out to a bar, or to dinner and have a few drinks? Do you really want to give the cops a "reason" to pull you over? You may be driving fine, but once that window rolls down and he smells the beer on your breath you'll wish you had that fugly license plate on your car.

Sorry, just my 2 cents.
