A New Yorker in SF on business
Sup guys,
I'll be in the bay area next weekend and was wondering if anyone here can recommend on things to do and see (aside from the obvious landmarks)...
I'll be staying at the La Meridian in the Financial district.
I'll have the whole weekend (7/27-29) to myself and need some recommendations on where to eat, hang out, maybe a good titi bar , night life, good bars , etc. etc.
...I'll probably feel bad for partying the whole weekend while my pregnant wife is at home..., but oh well... I'll be too drunk to feel guilty anyways...
Any other tips would be greatly appreciated, such as transportation, getting around, things to be aware of, shady areas to stay clear of , etc.
TIA,

Speed,
The night life days are a bit behind me, now. However, the financial district area affords plenty of fine dining. From your hotel, via Kearny St., you will be a very short cab ride/walk away from the North Beach/Broadway neighborhood. If you have the time, take a stroll down Broadway and Grant . . . Simply follow the sounds of over indulgence.
In any event, I trust that you have an enjoyable stay in S.F.

Any areas I should avoid? What's the best way to get around town?

Catching a taxi to hop around the downtown/North Beach/Fisherman's Wharf area is the best way to move around. We used to park our car and cab it for the rest of the evening.
I am not sure what your tastes are. However, if you are looking for some youthful fun/encounters in the North Beach area, be sure to go to the Savoy. It's a busy bar on the weekends frequented by the college crowd.
