Is it just because my car is black or do drivers not see the G?

I find this post quite troubling for myself . . . And have refrained from posting. However . . .

After my personal driving experience to Stockton this last Saturday, I cannot comment and/or pass judgment in this thread.

During the drive to Stockton, I had become what I despise about so many drivers whom we all share the roads with. No excuses, I deserved to have the book thrown at me. I openly admit it . . . No excuses . . . And as such, in the future . . . I will definitely restrain my opinion(s) when seeing drivers using less than good judgment.

Offensive is what Andy just admitted/explained (sorry Andy )
Defensive is when you're always watching out for the other person or ppl around you, expect the unexpected with a pre-thought maneuver plan and hopefully react before it's too late without jeopardizing the other ppl around you as well.

Nice! I always find myself devising a maneuver plan, haha.

we were driving fast at some points, but we were very safe about it, there was no cutting off we left plenty of room and i made sure to use my signals at all times. dont beat yourself up andy.

Chris, Wes, and I almost got into it with a few people that wanted to pass on a one lane highway. There was oncoming traffic and more than a few times the people barely made it back to thier lane. We had to brake to let them in.

Hate when ppl get stupid like that In a hurry to get nowhere fast.

One our way to Stockton meet, son and I saw this SUV go around a non-semi truck over the double yellow on the 12 out of Suisun. What a moron with a legal passing lane a couple miles up. He just made it too. Wish a CHP was around then....$2500 min fine for reckless driving on that part of 12. So many fatalities b/c of ppl like that!!

With that said...my defense was to back way off and hug the right as much i could ready for a head-on if that moron didn't make it.

Thanks, Kris . . . I appreciate your comments.

To qualify my previous comments . . . Yes, we did leave plenty of room for error and no one was 'Cut Off.' I have been in other NorCal G packs where much of the same was performed, even on 2 lane mountainous roads. To be honest, I have seen worst in our own group . . . However, at my age, I hold myself to a higher standard. Yeah, I shut it down, but I probably ran some 15 miles too long prior to that . . . And as such, did not set a very good example for the younger ones.

To give others an idea . . . My running speed to Stockton would be equivalent to my previous Santa Cruz I, II, and III runs, when you consider the road conditions. Most of you in the lead groups will have to admit . . . We have pushed it.

For those of you that were on the Santa Cruz III dry run with me and on the return run from Monterey Run II. . . My Stockton run pails in comparison. The return run from Monterey afforded very wet and poor road conditions . . . And were driving much faster. Those examples will let you folks know where my thinking is at.

I have a bunch more of examples, which I will keep to myself. I do not think any of us ever intended to do as we have upon real honest reflection.

I am simply being honest with myself . . . Even if just for one second or for a very short stretch of road . . . I am the same as those people, whom I have accused of being reckless. Personally, I make no excuses nor allowances for myself.

Drive safely, everyone . . . And enjoy your weekend.

I grew up in Eastern Long Island. Deer warnings signs everywhere in LI. In the entire time I was there (about 18 years), I never saw a single deer. Not even roadkill.

I was at Great Lakes Naval Base in Illinois (finishing my tour in the Corps) driving with my brother who lives in the Chicago suburbs. It was my third day of living in Illinois and we were driving in my Ford Mondeo ST220 (imported to the states) and my brother says to me, "Watch for deer over here-- we get a f--" *THWAP* *BOOM* *ba-da-da-da-da-da-DUMP!* Deer, like a stuntman, goes rollin' off my hood.

suuun-of-a...
