How many of you have the license plate on the front?

Enjoy it while you can...
I have never put front plates on my sports cars, but may have to change.
The establishment is rapidly coming to rely upon high speed optical scanning of license plates. Here in North Texas they are planning to eliminate the humans that make change at tollbooths ... because... they have had such high accuracy rates with the new (license) tag scanners. Texas also passed a law which makes it a crime to have any covering or bracket which in any way obscures your license tag. Lastly, I was reading in WIRED Magazine about a new system being tested in LA. It is a tag scanner system installed in a police squad car used by a special stolen vehicle team. They cruise the roadways and scan the tags of ONCOMING (front tags) traffic OR parked vehicles. This system can read, get this, 6 tags per SECOND, AND has time to look each one up in a database of stolen / wanted vehicles. When it "sees" a wanted tag #, the image of the vehicle is popped on to the screen for the cops, and a voice tells them what is has found.
The cops absolutely love it, and there are plans to roll these things out everywhere... And don't even ask about the new black boxes being installed that can record your speed and location for use by insurance companies and jealous spouses.
So enjoy your freedom while you can. We've got maybe 10 years left, at most.
