Wow, I didn't know Infiniti/Nissan has this problem.

My car seems to be in good shape. I guess I need to check my oil more often.

Andy as you know my car is going through the test right now. I'm almost at 4,000 miles and the final test. So far I have burned a total of 1 quart in 3K. As others have said that is unacceptable for this price point of a car. If Infiniti feels that my consumption rates are not enough to warrant a new engine then I too will be filing a complaint with the BBB.

If they do replace the engine I don't have the confindence in Infiniti to provide me an engine that doesn't burn oil. If this happens I will be looking to replace the G with another car very soon.

John,

Here is what I know about the engine part number, as it applies to the 350Z. Perhaps, Hector can be of more help in clarifying this, since he has a G35.

The existing/current revup engine part number is Part# 10102-AC7MA. The newer version 2 replacement engine is Part# 10102-AC7MZ.

Now, for a breath of fresh air in this whole mess. I just got off of the phone some 15 minutes ago with a local Infiniti service manager. They have gone through my consumption tests records . . . And as such, they are ordering me a new engine. It was mentioned that this said new engine may have some new components, which will help remedy the consumption issue.

The service manager was quite pleasant to deal with. I really hope this new engine will bring to a close my current consumption issues.

Slightly off topic....while I got a good deal from Infiniti of Fairfield I would never buy a car from them again. I was never able to get my actual delivery date corrected. They basically shorted me 2 weeks. Infiniti Consumers Affairs was not able to get a response from them on issue. I also made repeated calls to them that went unanswered. ICA finally told me I should probably report them to BBB. I have just wrote it off at this point.

Gene,

Please to read that the new engine is working better for you. Can you confirm the
part # 10102-AC7M1 as being the newer version of the revup?

Thats good news Andy, hope it will take care of the issue...Just thinking out loud...since they going to swap a new motor for you, it should not be that much work for them to slap a SUPERCHARGER on at same time, just think how much you going to save on the labors.
