Date restaurant?
LOL! Thanks for taking care of me everyone! I was thinking of something in the Rockridge area, I just wasn't sure about parking. I do want to be able to actually talk and not scream over noise if that helps.

Sorry to change the subject Grace, but I want to ask this question, what do you guys normally do or expect on a first date when you guys meet a girl? YOu ask her out so you can get to know her more... what sort of venue or event would you take her on your first date?
I guess to me, Chez Panisse is appropriate. It's quiet, you and your date can talk and not yell above the noise. Skates is nice, same type of atmosphere, the view of SF is breathtaking.
Let's here it guys.... just want to know.

Okay... In my days (I'm 87
) when a guy wants to get to know a lady, he takes his time to go to a nice, quiet place. Although $400 is steep for a first date, a nice, quiet place is appropriate. A pizza place is not. JMHO.

ok, sorry $300 is not hard to hit @ chez panisse. no one's suggesting pizza. there are quiet places to go for dinner that are more reasonable too. a neighborhood asian food spot can satisfy that. or a wine bar. just depends on where you go i guess

Hey, Gillian, I'm no help for that particular part of the Bay. However, you being yourself will definitely afford a great time. The place/restaurant does have something to do with it . . . But the company is the most important part in the equation. You can share a slice of pizza sitting on a cardboard box with a great guy and have a wonderful time.
Regardless of where you choose . . . Have a wonderful time kiddo.

To me, I prefer just to have a cocktail then I can pretty much gauge if I want to spend anymore time with the guy such as dinner. But, in Grace's case, the guy asked her to pick a restaurant.
