Horrible Experience At Peninusla Infiniti

I plan to keep this short and simple as I can see myself going on and on. Anyways, I will just get right into it.

I called Brian Reidy a week in advanced to make an appointment for warranty and TSB work to be performed on my vehicle. The main things I wanted to cover:

-Tear in my drivers seat due to issue with 05 seats (TSB), needs replacement
-I feel resistance between shifts with 6MT
-Difficulty filling my fuel tank (TSB), part needs replacement
-Unusual sound (not vibration) during low rpm movement, most likely clutch chatter
-Annoying squeak when windows roll up and down
-A clip on the brake calipers seemed out of place, ?
-Certain interior rattles I can pinpoint
-AC turns on at times when I throw something into the cubby (non-navi)
-Radio display face starting to peel off on the bottom
-Issue with drivers door window regulator.

We set an appointment and I came in the day of. Brian was ready to speak with me. However, I soon realized that he wanted money for everything on my list minus the seat tear TSB.

He said that in order to check my transmission, he needed to charge me $85 for a test drive.

For the fuel tank, he wanted to charge me $66 for a fuel charge, however, if you look at the TSB, it asks that you bring your vehicle in with 1/4 tank or less of fuel. My car was exactly at 1/4. Brian said he would need to charge me to fill up my car. How does 13 gallons equal $66? He wanted to charge me $5.07 a gallon. Every other dealer I spoke with mentioned that I must come in with 1/4 tank or less. There would be no fuel charge.

When I mentioned the sound during certain RPM's, he said that it was chatter and perfectly normal. When I asked if I could take a tech on a drive, he denied me and said his techs did not have time. WTF? Didn't you set aside time for a tech to go on a test drive when I mentioned these issues.

As for the windows, he said he can take care of it by lubricating all seals. He charged me $42 and I agreed to pay as long as the squeaks went away. In the past, Infiniti of Serramonte took care of seal squeak for me free of charge.

As for the brakes, once again, he said he had to charge me $70 to inspect them. I felt that I might as well pay for that as I didn't want to sacrifice performance on a very important part of the car, stopping power.

For the rattles, I asked to take a tech out on a drive but once again, I was denied that. I did tell him exactly where the noises were coming from and to fix it.

For the AC, I told him it would be hard to replicate as it randomly comes on

And the radio display, he said he would take a look at it.

I asked him to also take a look at the window regulator as my window does not roll down sometimes. He said that he would have to charge me $112 to take off the door panel and adjust the regulator. He said it is only cover for the first year/12,000 miles.

Brian wanted to charge me nearly $400 to look at warranty related issues. I denied most work except for the brakes and squeaks. All other issues which didn't involve money were supposed to be looked at. They kept my car for 4 days and I get a call from Brian Friday afternoon. He tells me they couldn't do anything for the rattles, the AC, the radio and that the squeaks still existed and were due to my window tint.

At this point, I got pretty pissed but remained calm. I told him that I felt I just wasted the last 4 days as he didn't look at anything I really asked him to without asking alot of money and that all non-money related issues were denied. I asked him if anyone even took my car out to hear rattles. He said no one did. Once again, I got upset. He then said he would personally drive my car around and call me back.

20 minutes later I get a call saying that no rattles existed other than ones caused by the seatbelts. You can't understand how upset I was at this point because I KNOW those rattles are there.

Anyways, I left work early and rushed to the dealer in time to speak with the manager. Sure enough, both he and Brian were gone by the time I showed up. I had no choice but to pay for the bill and take my car. The receptionists both knew how upset I was as they kept encouraging me to return on Monday and speak with the manager.

The only work they really did was fix my brakes, which I paid for. The seat bottom was replaced under the TSB, but the new seat has creases in them that are unacceptable. All prior squeaks still exist. Brain knew I had tint on my car and should have told me that it would cause squeaks and that the lubrication of seals wouldn't have helped the issue. Funny thing is that my car has had tint for 2 years and just recently it has been squeaking. All other work was denied unless I was willing to pay.

He said that the radio face peeling off was normal. How?

As for the rattles, the second I took off, I already heard them.

I felt like I wasted 4 days and money for nothing. I plan to drive over there from SF on monday to express my anger and dissatisfaction with their work. I do not even want to see Brian. He became rude on the phone cutting me off.

If Brian says one smart thing to me on Monday, I am going to lay him out on the floor.

Maybe I am getting this poor service because I am young. Maybe they think I am stupid and will pay whatever they want just like many of their customers.

Sure, I am 21, but I bought this car by myself. Parents did not help at all. The car is PAID OFF. I hope they don't think I am some punk kid that gets a car as a graduation gift. I worked for this car and it pisses me off that I get treated in such a manner.

Once again, I am going back on Monday to speak with management. If I am not satisfied with their answers, I will file a complaint with Infiniti Consumer Affairs as well as the BBB. Every other dealer I have spoken with has confirmed that there would be no additional charge for some of these issues.

Sorry for the rant. I just had to express my anger with Peninsula Infiniti.

Fill out one of those surveys that they send home after a service. Write about how bad the service was and make sure you put brian's name on here. heh heh heh that'll show him!!!

I think i get ripped off at the dealership too....
they charge me 65 bucks for oil changes and tried to charge me $280 for just swapping sensors out of my tires.

Agreed, Peninsula Infiniti sucks

+1 Peninsula Infiniti sucks. I went there to try to have a rattle fix and I knew exactly where and what it was. Bob, the service advisor, wanted to charge me $150 because there is a squeak and rattle warranty but it's only 12 months/12k miles. It just sounds like an excuse to try to bleed the customer. It felt like they were doing me a favor by taking a look at it.

Even though I bought my car at Peninsula, I always took my car to Serramonte which was much better for me because they didn't try to nickel and dime me for everything. I'm never taking my car to Peninsula ever again and I'll drive further to another dealership just to avoid them.

BTW, I also filed a complaint with Nissan, but I think it's just a waste of time haven't heard anything from them in over a month.

Good luck dealing with the idiots at Peninsula and don't take any crap from them.

Sorry hear about your poor service experience. I'm not the least bit surprised. Like you, my mom got much better service at Serramonte than Peninsula. The idiots at Peninsula put a huge scratch in her FX and claimed they didn't know how it got there, but ended up fixing it after my mom pointed out the scratch was there. (I vented about that here:https://g35driver.com/forums/showpos...9&postcount=10)

I am just pissed that they refuse to look at my car unless money is involved. Now I understand how all those of you with oil consumption issues feel.

Giacomo, unfortunately speaking with the manager, Ron Cosgrove is not going to help your situation. He is the biggest ***** I have EVER met in the automotive industry, and definitely has a problem with younger people in nice cars.

My advice to you is to call Infiniti Corporate ASAP. You shouldn't have been charged a penny as everything you brought your car in for is either covered by warranty or TSB. There should not be a single "inspection" fee. Let me know if you want me to come down there with you and set things straight.

Boris... I must say that I really appreciate the support you offer. It feels good to know that someone else is willing to help me out Right on dude.

Honestly, the only portion I didn't mind spending money on were the brakes. I don't know where the previous owner had them serviced. I don't expect Infiniti to fix a problem someone else caused, although, it would be nice. However, I have a major problem with everything else.

I will go out there on Monday. If all else fails, I will just raise hell. You never know, you may see my case on 7 on your side. lol. I am not going out without a fight. I really hope I can keep it where it won't get physical.

Veronica,
I really hate to go to the dealer unless it is a must. If it is something I can do myself, I would prefer to. A few of these things I can do myself but honestly, I do have a warranty and I feel that its a right to have my car fixed.

I hope others have a wonderful dealership experience. I would hate for one bad dealer to ruin it for the rest of you guys, but it just seems that local Infiniti dealers blow. There is a reason why dealers are know to rip people off. They are in the business to make money.

I just feel like I am getting the short end of the stick because of my age. However, I will go out with a fight.

How is Marin? I am considering going to them from now on. Must suck if you have to drive all the way from SJ to Marin to get work performed on your car. I hated driving from SF to Redwood City.

yep Peninsula sux!

I totally agree..I've had numerous bad experiences with all the service reps, salesmen (some asian dude with a shaved head)..another *****!..and even the GM...forgot his name, but he has somewhat of an English accent..punk too!

I've had my tint scratched, 3M bra torn by the mechanics, even after I told them NOT to wash my car.
...service/professionalism just in the dumps...I don't even want to get in on what I went through..I don't think there's enough space on here for it. But yes I do agree..and I do feel sorry for whoever takes their Gs..or any Infiniti's for that matter to Peninsula.

I've since..NEVER taken my G back there again!
