Daym i got a problem NEED HELP!

Well ill get straight to it. About three weeks ago when it was raining cats and dogs i started to hear a weird noise coming from what i thought from the engine. It didnt sound until i left the car idle for 15 minutes and returned. And now everytime i idle at a stop light or jus park, i can hear that annoing noise after it warms up. Annoyed by this i tried to rectify it by listening if i can hear outside the car as well but i couldnt hear that exact same distinct sound.. Weird as it sounds i can only hear it from the inside of the car. Now i dont know if the heavy rain fall played a role in it or not but correct me if i am wrong tho but does anybody know what would be the problem or experienced this before? BTW i have an 05 AT Coupe if that helps.... HELP ME OUT FELLOW G FAMS.

You might want to describe the sound.

oh, and where exactly you think it might be coming from inside the car.

Can you describe this 'annoying' sound at all?

oh yea sorry forgot the most important detail. It sounds kinda like a lawn mower idling very slowly. it not as loud tho but sounds like it. When i speed up from idling it goes away. Sound i think is coming from the gear box or tranny i believe and i noticed my shift ***** vibrates a lil more then usual before this happened. Daym i hope its not the tranny going badd... but any help?

That is definitely worth looking into. I doubt it, but it could be valve train noise of sorts.

you know i had a similar problem with my car making weird vibration noises on idle too. I actually had another incident couple days ago but it only lasts for couple seconds.

How many miles do you have on your car? when was the last maintanence?

Sounds will sound different outside the car. If there is a pattern involved try to look for it rather than the same sound.
In addition to checking the stuff above...
What kind of fuel do you use? Using low-end and/or low octane fuel can cause idling problems.
Do you have an aftermarket intake? Sometimes those can let in water which can also cause problems.

G'luck.

Just shot in the dark, check the belts and pulleys, they might got wet during the heavy rain and could be loose or just worn. When you hear the noise, dose it sound like ticking (pausing) or its whining (constant)?

it sounds like a ticking kinda noise. my car is at 80,000 miles havnt done any major tune up since i last bought it a year ago at 40 miles. its all stock also. YEA i placed about 40k miles in less then a YEAR. You can ask Patman530 aha. But yea oil change at the dealer every 3000 miles was routine to me. Although I was told when i had gotten my tires chnged at pepoys that my a/c and power steering belt were startin to crack. u think that might be it?

Could be the belts, and you are probably due for another service. There should have been major services done at 45k and 60k. If it's mainly highway you can push them out some, but I still wouldn't go over 10k extra without getting the service done.

This is for '07, but they haven't really changed things much. (schedule starts on page 16)
