Well, I just stuck my arm into the fire in the SoCal thread.

Some will learn sooner. Some will learn later. Some will unfortunately miss the point.

This thread brings to mind a public announcement courtesy of Chris Rock.

I see the larger picture and what they're doing is not preventing street racing or even trying to catch them in the act. It's pure income, period. For them to accuse everyone with a modded car of street racing is just... violating rights...

The way I see it, the whole "illegal street racing crackdown" is just more propaganda to justify harassing people for more revenue. What makes it great is that it's based on truth.

Propaganda: People modify their imorts to street race.

Truth: Lots of people modify their cars as a hobby, many bring their cars to the track on the weekends but don't race on the streets. Street racing does exist, and has been around since the invention of the automobile. But putting the blame of the street races on every modified import car owner would be like putting the blame of a murder on every gun owner...

Sorry it's a huge issue to me because the way I see it, we're losing our rights everyday. I can go on with everything going on today, but if you take a look at this place now, we're living in fear... we're putting ourselves behind virtual bars, and crime and terrorism has won before anything truly terrible has happened in our area... is it worth it?

Don, you have a very interesting way of interpreting things. I trust that your sense of what is right serves you well.

When I was a kid, someone told me the sky was blue. I walked outside and saw a red and orange sunset.

Moral of this story, I don't trust anyone or believe anything until I see it for myself. Rulers have always relied on propaganda. What makes America any different?

I completely agree with this guy. It IS all about revenue. They were just shooting fish in a barrel for easy money. What harm were these guys doing? Nobody was racing and they had no proof except their biased assumptions (excuses) that everyone with a modified car is a street racer. I have been modding cars since before I could even drive and I think street racing is idiotic, selfish and reckless BUT since I have a modded car, I MUST be racing.

If I had 500k to spend on my car, 500 bucks, hell, even 5k in fix-it tickets isn't sh*t...

Thanks for the heads up. I hope they aren't gonna be doing the shady tactics they used in Riverside... I'd be pissed if I get a racing ticket for just having a modified car... I avoid that scene like the plague...

I'm not going to point out the obvious, which I have previously mentioned, but . . . Reading comprehension is lacking.
