wondering about a tuning

Is it necessary to get your car tuned every now and again? I have an AEM intake installed but just wondering if it's necessary to tune it at all.. does resetting the ECU do much? Also where do you guys get your car tuned in norcal?

Your not gonna really need much of a tune for just an intake...

I remember people saying that they disconnected the battery overnight when installing an intake, but I didn't when I installed my z-tube/pop-charger.

i do all city driving in SF/Daly City. With my 6MT I average 13-14 mpg. I am going off of my total miles between fill up and gallons filled up instead of the stock navi.

Yes it is better to get the car tuned if you are not running stock set up
for example you have the AEM INTAKE system which means u have more air flow going to the intake, so if the ecu see's that you have extra air going in but u don't have enough fuel to burn what will ecu do? ecu will add more fuel to the car to compensate the extra air that is going into your engine... but if its not within stock spec, the ecu will not know how much fuel to dump in.. so it will cause the car to run rich.... remember running rich = wasting more gas!!!
in the other words, if u have AEM INTAKE and ecu didn't see it.. that will cause the car to run lean which is also going to cause poor gas millage.

The dyno sheet above is g35sleepers car which came in and got tuned May 9,2008. His car had a very significant gain in power as you can see on the maps curve. The car is strong and thank you for the support g35sleeper! nice doing buisness with you and i hope you enjoying the power gain!
