Jason man u need to chill out. Come to some local meets an cruise with the NorCal . In the mean time, drive like a grandma (but not on sidewalk) for your daily driving, at least till u clear a couple points off the record.

alot are starting to use laser, i had the escort 8500 or what ever 1 of the best at the time next to the valentine, and i got nailed... laser is like instant on and alot of radar detectors dont catch it in time since the beam spread is only like 8Inchs @ over 1000ft away compaired to radar where @ 500ft its like a 10ft spread dont quote me on actual spreads i didnt feel like re looking it up after all its 430am and im going to bed cus i have work in 3hrs

dont work, i did how ever get 3 violations in like a 3month period... stupid modded/lowered civic... i went to school for them all, and 1 showed up on my print out @ dmv but no pts on my actual record according to the court when i verified.

Did you hire a traffic lawyer? Cause the court fee is already included in your penalty fee. I haven't gotten a ticket in awhile but I do not believe that you get charged extra to contest a ticket, can Chippie confirm this?!?!?

nope, i didnt hire a traffic lawyer. i got charged almost 100 bucks more....i was livid....
but oh well. then i asked the judge why it was hire than what was on my ticket and she told me this....and i quote...."you should have paid the ticket when it came in then!" and what do i say to that? she wanted to suspend my license. it was not a good day...

Each county sets it's own amounts. But the court fee should be factored in with the letter sent to you. If you contest and lose, I have see judges lower and RAISE fines depending on the driving record. A base fine for speed may be $20-30, but by the time the court finishes adding in all the other fees, it can be more like $130. The court shouldn't charge you for something that is your Constitutional right. So by fighting it, I don't think they can charge you. Not sure, you would have to confirm with the court.

Corruption, comes to mind when I hear this. Laws are set in place for "safety" I think that the principal of this concept was lost when the state realized they could produce revenue though fines. Instead, I would feel that i have truly learned a lesson if i was sentenced to 200 hours of community service instead of paying $200 which is only 5 hours of work for me... Pretty soon, it'll be so convenient Law Enforcement agencies will come out with a hand held device where the officer would just ask to swipe your credit card and you can be on your way. Better yet!!! why even give points when you can just cite the violator all the time!!! This system is broken....

Just for info, most of the time people go to traffic court just to see if they can get their fine reduced. If they have a clean record, the judge usually does. Especially with carpool tickets. So instead of paying $450 for a first time offense, the judge has brought it down to $150. Then there was the time I saw a young man in court for a speeding ticket. He was paced at 85 MPH. He took his van to the dealership and had the speedo calibrated. Guess what? 15 MPH off. The judge still found him guilty and put a point on his record, BUT reduced the fine to $0.00. Sounds like corruption to me. And mind you, this goes on every day. So don't think it's some random occurrence. Take some administration of justice classes. Maybe it will help you understand the "system." Your record is not a factor in determining innocence or guilt, but used in the penalty process. If someone has a repeated history of auto theft, do you think the court is going to keep giving that person the same punishment? So it's not corruption, that's how it is.

Thank you for your input, sorry if I mistake the law system. There are a lot of times where things always seem one side especially with the traffic law system.

billy is also a arsehole who rips all his friends off.. he use to charge like a excess of 2-3k for that crap..
