well...well...well...

got my first tint ticket 10 minutes ago.

I was at a stop light and when the light turned green, I gunned the car. I look up in my rearview and notice a car pulling up fast that I hadn't seen before in the rearview. I guess he was trying to get me for speeding, but I slowed down. Tried to roll down my windows but to no avail. He asked me to roll them back up. 35% tint.

I was driving home from work at 11:50 PM. This was on Bayshore Blvd near the Cow Palace. Let me repeat...it's 11:50 pm.

just my luck...I've had the tint for 1 yr and 2 days

how much is this gonna cost me?

looked it up:

base fine: $25
added penalty: $66
surcharge: $5

total fine: $96.

Sorry to hear about your ticket. They've been pretty strict lately..........guess, they've gotta get more money from somewhere.

Yeah, my buddy just got a ticket in San Fran while driving near city college for too much tint. I think his was also 35%. WTF is going on with these cops. My pops is retired SFPD and they never used to waste their time with such crap. I feel much safer knowing that we have cops like that doing such a fine job....but lets not cop bash, not all are like that.

 

i got pulled over about 3 weeks ago by a santa clara county sheriff.. i didn't have time to roll down my windows, so i knew i was busted.. even if i did, i think he knew my fronts were tinted.. either way, he pulled me over, and held me there for 30 min.. even tho i was gettin a little impatient, he came back with nothing.. supposedly he couldn't get the right code, but he threatened me by telling me that if he ever saw me again, he would cite me like crazy..

being in my business, i travel a lot to meet clients, and being late to a meeting is not something i can afford.. hence, i took off the tint from my front two windows.. sigh.. it doesnt look as hot as it once did, but it's an exchange for not gettin hassled by cops..

Guys, I think the fine has doubled since last year...tint tickets use to go for $50 a pop...get this, my friend in Sac got pulled over for tint in january by...drum roll please....The TINT TASKFORCE....wtf.

I got a speeding ticket in San Jose a couple months ago and I don't have a front plate and I have 35% on the side windows and he didn't say anything, just a speeding ticket. Guess it just matters who pulls you over.

 

You guys are getting me scared, coz I want to tint all windows except for windshield. Wil already told me that 50% is probably lowest that I can go and stay legal. Does any1 have any sources on legal tint limits in Cali. I don't mind taking my case to court if I know I'm right.

you're not supposed to have any tint on your front driver and passenger windows..

Actually, the legal limit for California, according to IWFA, is 70%. What I meant was 50% is the closest you could come to legality, but still won't be legal.

14 months so far with no problems about my tint. I got 50% in front and 30% for the rest of the car. You can tell the difference in sunlight, so maybe the cops think it's not actually tinted in front.

I've had 20% for 16 months and so far they have left me alone. It just seems that tint should be legal except the limo tint. I always thought that a tint ticket was a fix-it ticket. The same as no front plate or the blue lights.

Here's my dilema. I want to tint 50% all around and I REALLY like how 50% looks on the windshield as well. I have graphite interior though. Do you think I'll be able to sell it to the cop if all my windows look the same including windshield that this UV reducing glass comes as this from the factory. Hey, my sticker says that.
