Cool Yo Norcal! New G35 Owner.

Hey all, I been lurking for a while and shopping for a G35. I had actually planned to wait a few more months before getting one but I was "messing around" on Ebay and bid on one. I didn't think I would win but the reserve was pretty low. What do you guys think?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=400023647790

(In Summary - 2007 OB Infiniti G35 Coupe 14.2k miles, Premium, Sport, Nav, 19" Wheels)

Dealer fee is $149 and Shipping is $650, so total around $23,300 after all that, paid in cash.

Tell me what you guys think, seems like a pretty good deal to me. Carfax clean.

Anyway, I will get it around Monday.

Looking to start off with some real simple mods -

1. Clear Corner (probably just get off Ebay)
2. Tint
3. Clear Bra maybe
4. Painted Black Front Grille
5. Maybe remove Infiniti emblem on back.

I had a few questions:

I am using this as a daily driver so I will be driving in the rain at night sometimes. I want a tint that I will still be able to back up, see through the mirrors with the windows up, what is the max I can reasonably go? 20% 30%?

What are your experiences with cops with your tints?

Any good tint places you would recommend?

I also don't know too much about clear bra, is it pretty obvious? My friend told me that the problem with it is that when you take it off, the paint color will not match anymore with the parts that you didn't cover?

Also, I will be parking outdoors (yea sucks), anything I can do to try to alleviate the effect of the daily wear that has on the exterior?

This also generates another HUGE problem, there is a pine tree above where I park, so I get pine sap, what can I do to deal with this problem? Just wash the car a ton? Car cover?

Anyway, look forward to being more of a presence on this board, thanks for your inputs.

Vince at Omega in Pleasanton is the man for your tint and clear bra. He also gives discounts to people from Driver.

Welcome!

Congrats on the purchase. For the tint, since you'd like to be able to see in the dark, I'd suggest nothing more than 35%. 20/18% is pretty much limo tint - very dark and hard to see through at night. For those that don't know, the number is for how much visibility is left after the tint is installed on your windows.

As for the clear bra, it shouldn't mess up your paint at all. On top of that, your car is black, so the paint doesn't need to be color matched because it's almost impossible to see a little discoloration. But because your car is black, the lines of the clear bra will stand out if you are standing within 20 feet of the car. But it's still pretty worth the protection.

I have the clear bra on my car and love it. Yeah you can see the lines but it's not that big of a deal. I would rather see the lines than rock chips on my bumper any day.
