i want a mac now...

 

I have XP Pro on my desktop for gaming. However, i have a Macbook Pro for school with OS X 10.5.5 on it. I actually like XP better, its easier and i hate pushing ctrl for right click. However, i really like the way Mac sets up things and wouldn't go any other way for school.

Now, for people thinking of using Linux. Its hard to use because its so customizable that you really need to know what your doing to use it. If your not to good at computers i would never recommend it.

For all those who are thinking of updating there PC with a new OS, wait for Windows 7. My roommates uncle is really high up in Microsoft and we got to play with Windows 7! Its amazing. It has the Vista look but actually is functional. He said that what happened with Vista is that they used a outside company to make all of the gadgets and background programs while Microsoft wrote the main program. They really didn't communicate very much and thus when they combined them, they didn't work well with each other. Thus, the reason you need 2gigs or more and a better computer to run it. I personally, kind of thank Vista for making every base computer better. You saw before Vista computers came with a gig of ram and smaller processors because XP doesn't require much. After Vista, you see computers with 2-4gs and really nice processors just to run it. It made the industry lower the price of goods. (of course as we get better things get cheaper, but still it helped a lot)

Anyways back to 7, It runs like XP and will be great for gaming, graphic design and still amazing for business. He runs his whole house on it. From his phone he can control anything in his house (LOL he turned on the shower from his phone and it has a programed settings for him and his wife!) He also had a new laptop running it, the laptop is the sizes of a Macbook air and is a little smaller so yes the PC market will be able to get to the Macbook air size.

Now, i have another idea for people that want to have the best of both worlds. My roommate did this and it is really cool. Everyone knows that Mac has amazing software, yet PC has amazing hardware. So why not combine them. My roommate put Mac OS X 10.5.5 on his PC! yes it can be done. There is actually a company building them for customers (They are getting the **** sued out of them but they are still making them) Anyways, it runs fast as hell and is really nice. Plus you get the power of a PC and ability to change parts fasts with the OS of a Mac. I really like it other than i game so i would never be able to run it for that reason alone.

 

how are they getting sued for dual boot?
as long as you have the "licensed" prog it wouldnt be an issue
Ive been using ubuntu which is a linux build/dual booting with xp
vmware wont be able to play the games i want =D

dual boot is always great just partition the hard drive into the OS and leave the rest as shared space or do half and half

7 looks great, but im waiting till they get to the service packs dont wanna deal with new os drama...

For all those "omg i hate mac cause i can't right mouse click/press cntrl" people...

If youre on a laptop enable "Tap trackpad using two fingers for secondary click" and all your problems are solved. Desktop users, buy a new mouse!

I worked in IT for a couple years and I worked on both mac and pcs. I've built all my pcs since I was like 10 or so. I can use both and I currently own both. I usually use my mac, mainly because its my laptop, but also for its ease of use and less hassle. How many mac users have your heard with spyware or a virus? And you still ask why people go mac?

I get tired of helping friends/fam/gf with their computer problems sometimes. If you are a normal user and dont need all the apps on a pc...I say go mac. Less maintenance. I am a gamer, so I still use my pc and like having both around just in case and for flexibility. If you need/want apps not available on a mac then I guess your mind is made up isn't it? Or you can run both on a mac, but its all preference in that case.

 

For sure man, totally agree. He wanted to dual boot as well, the only problem was that to run OS X on a PC he had to have a older graphic card that the mac OS recognized. And to play games he has a GTX 260 SSC so he wants to format and play games again.

 

They are starting to come out with stuff now as gay as it is.

 

They're not getting sued for dual-booting. The lawsuits are about that fact that Apple software (the operating system) is being installed on non-Mac hardware, contravening the EULA of the OS.

 

since you are all hating on Windows OS...i was going to mention i got hook up on their products but o' well you are guys wouldnt be interested..

Ahhh Microsoft/Apple wars will never end as both are not open source OS's, where-as Linux is lol.

I have a 24" iMac. A unibody 13" Macbook and an iPhone. I think this stigma about about users being dumb is kind of half true half false.

I've been a PC guy my whole life, built my own towers for gaming several times. I started working at the apple store 2 years ago and thought it'd be a cute job baby sitting people who didn't know what a mouse was. I got hooked after using the OS. I had remembered being Mac's being incompatible with everything and with a slow interface. Pre OS9 days etc. I think after Leopard came out (OSX 10.5) it really bridged the gap and theres almost nothing that a PC can do these days that a Mac cannot with VMWARE or Parallels. Also the stability of OSX is amazing. In the 18 months I've owned my iMac, it's frozen on me less than 5 times, and has never crashed. It's pretty amazing if you think about it and how my PC with windows XP still manages to give me weird freezes and issues when I use it. Overall a computer is a computer, use what you got and don't frett too much about it, but Mac's are hard to beat in my Book.

Plus a lot of the people whom are considered dumb, are because they have never had to deal with weird computer problems or issues. I mean, you don't even have to look for drivers on a Mac. More of less everything is sorted for you. It's not their faults! Completely at least, haha.
