I would have probably gone straight to SF State from high school because I would probably be done now, but at the same time, I did enjoy my time at UC Davis and CCSF, so I can't really complain. I've realized that college life really is a good life.

It is difficult to say I'd change anything because it is what has made me today. the hands of right and wrong shaped me and i like you, Andy can not really complain as I wake up and breathe in air everyday regardless of its toxicity level . I, like many of you all i am sure have family or friends that no longer have that luxury so i grasp life in the present and the past at the helm and change nothing, learn everything (err. most things ) and prepare for tomorrow.

reminds me of a cool Robert Frost poem, The road less traveled.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth

Then took the other as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet, knowing how way leads onto way
I doubted if I should ever come back

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence
Two roads diverged in a wood
And I took the one less traveled by
And that has made all the difference

"tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today..." Malcolm X

Wish I did my MBA when I had time but now I don't have any free time to go back to school.

Other than that I think I have been very fortunate in what I have done to date.

What year are you? If you're already past your first year, just stick with it cuz you got the hardest part out of the way already, especially if your school has you take step I of the boards the summer after your first year.

In any case, good luck with your decision man, I know sometimes I just want to quit and pursue something else. But then I look at all of my engineering and finance friends fearing for their jobs in this kind of economy, and I feel better haha.

Would've definitely studied more in highschool, and probably more during the first half of college, kinda sux considering being on a 5 year plan and THEN trying to go to law school with a F*cked up GPA while all my friends are graduating and getting jobs (or attempting to do so) way way before me. Hoping I'll have the academic and mental motivation to go through with law school, so that I can, as previously mentioned, get the "perks" lol. Wanna be able to pay off my student loans and such in my first year's salary!!!

Wow . . . I am quite impressed with much of the candor/frankness from you folks. This is a defining moment for me, as a NorCal G member. I am very proud to be a part of this community.

Changes and choices? I have made many in my life. It is those very same changes and choices, which make me whom I am today for better or worst. I trust that, for the most part, I have made the right decisions for my family and friends. And as such, looking back, I have no regrets.

At any given moment, in our daily lives, we all have the ability to made small incremental changes or adjustments to either better or worsten our situation, whether we are conscious of the said or not.

Personally, I use the following, as passed on to me by my many mentors . . .

Is what I am about to do:

1. Fair to everyone around me?
2. Is it ethically and morally correct?
3. Does it get me closer or further a way from where I wish to be?
*Each of us needs to search within ourselves and define what it is that we want.

Constant and never ending change to be a better person.

If in question and in a less than desirable situation . . . Remember . . . If you keep doing what it is that you are doing, you will continue to get what you are getting in life.

I could go on and on. However, I won't. I really hope that these words can have a positive and productive effect for some.

Well, I'm glad I'm still doing well in school but would have been better if I would have went straight to a college closer to home instead of going to Univ of Reno then to Chico State then to CSUEB(Hayward state)
If i did stay local, I would have saved myself a ton of money, alot of heart ache, and would still probably be at the Sheriff's Office to this day.. I worked there while in HS in their explorer-cadet program. Age16, one of the youngest person in the state of California to be PC 832 certified laws of arrest and firearms! (you need to be 18 to take the course, LOL)

..hmm.. alot of things now that I think about it....
would have not gone 'drifting' on Jan 03, 2004 ( I flipped and rolled 3x.. my car on SR-35 Skyline)
..would have not gambled so much.. i've dropped over 3.5K in only 2 trips to the casino (or better yet, bet RED instead of black on that damn roulette table! LOL)
...
Not have bought the BMW 330CI from hell..
..
taken 101 instead of 280 when driving home at 3am in the morning so I wouldn't have totaled my Mercedes via deer on the freeway driving home(north) from SJ @ 80-90MPH...

Not have stopped college for a year to pay down my bills..
..
took that study abroad program to China, instead I got stuck here paying so many damn bills..

probably not buy a nice car, stick with a beater or inexpensive car and use the extra money and go travel instead of being stuck paying bills, insurance, etc....

Not bang a co-worker in the 'family bathroom' back in 06 when I worked at a store.. (well, it was a damn good bang, but I got fired ,LOL)

not sleep with my one of ex's (gf at time) best friend then dump gf and go out with her friend, WHHHHHATTT? she had nice lol

Not did as much drinking and partying when I was at school-- added too much weight...

Not be so materialistic growing up.. I didn't grow up in wealth, but I lived the life.. I worked since I was 12 and bought myself tons of sh^^ i didnt need. bought ridiculous amounts of 'bling bling' including 2 rolex(probably not have thrown the rolex i got for my gf at the time into the ocean when she pissed me off.. that's BANK i lost =/ could have recycled it for the next girl<LOL) also I bought an 02 accord v6 coupe in HS after i flipped my 00 Accord v6sedan and dropped wayyyy too much money into it. I could have used that extra money to invest or save or travel..

As u can all tell, I really want to do some traveling..
I still hope to do a study abroad --I'm currently learning mandarin so I can go to China

-sigh-... but what can we do? In a way, I'm glad everything happened.. the good, the bad, and the ugly.. like Dru said, it shapes who we are today and if it wasn't for all of that (and plenty of other crap) I wouldn't know all you awesome peeps @ driver !

oh, one more thing..
I would have not tried to out run the Colorado state police ... (important lesson.. if your not from around there, don't do anything stupid.. and can't outrun a motorola..)
for some time, i was paying almost 6k yr for insurance

True! I have 'settled down' from my wild life and try to keep on the ethical side of matters.. focus on what's important in your life/ where you want to go and go there in a manner that is consistent with who you want to become/be.
I recently terminated doing business with an individual b'c he was purely seeking $$$ and not the best interest of others. In another life, or maybe a few years ago, I'd probably be right there with him... we all change with experience and knowledge -- we will always be changing our views of the world and what is ethical

+1
I really wouldn't change anything or I probably wouldn't have the wonderful family I have today.

Now it's my turn to try and keep my kids in a more positive path and help them set themselves up as best they can. Easieir said than done

Thanks for sharing everyone

Excellent, Robert. It appears that you have made some good changes and choices for yourself. Remember, we all will continue to make mistakes from time to time. However, it's the constant awareness of attempting to better yourself, which will see through.
