Truth....here in CA. no matter what you tint your driver/passenger windows you're taking a chance being pulled over! If you tint your back window dark like the 5% you were considering you won't survive. Cops what to see who's in the car from behind, with 5% you will get cited. I did 35% front/back and leave my sunroof shade open so it appears lighter, so far I haven't been ticketed....tomarrow might be the day. That's like the front plate, you skate until you get caught. It's the game we play....

My setup is like KuroV36...50% driver/passenger sides, 30% on the rear sides, but 20% on the rear window. It's not obvious at all when your car is OB though especially if your other windows are a good % darker. I'm not going to say I've never been pulled over for the tint cuz I don't wanna jinx myself! However, I think I'd go darker if I could do it all over again...but just by maybe 5-10% darker all around.

I would do 3m tint with 15 % back and 30% front. I like the 3m because it is very light when the sun hits it, but dark when there is no light. I have that set up for going on to 3 years and no ticket. On my previous cars I ran the same set up with different tint brand and have gotten myself well over 10+ tint tix.

I got 5% on the front and back. I usually get pulled over like every 4 months for it on average. It all depends on the cops. Like there are some cops that are ****** and just wanna hate on you. Like I was cruising and I had my windows opened more than half way and there was a cop on the right side making a left turn and sees me go by and instead of making a left turn he just makes a right turn just to get me. ***** also got me for front license plate. Ohh well my car looks good though I just put the tint back on.

OK i wanna piggy back on this thread with a question. I have out of state plates cause... well, i'm from out of state. My fiancee and I are going to get tints on our cars and were wondering how dark we could skate with? I was gonna jsut play it save and go with my states min (35% WI for me, 25% LA for the lady) but if we can skate with a lower % we will. neither of us have front plates on, either.

I have 50% on my fronts and I have had cops look at it directly and ask if it was tinted and they could not tell. No issues ever seeing out of it and it is enough to keep the suns heat down. Why give em a reason to stop you is my opinion.

4-5 over three years? how is that worth it? How much are the tickets? do they have any affect on your insurance?

I'm pretty sure as soon as you cross into california border, you must obey california laws, meaning no front plate is illegal, any form of tint on the front windows is illegal. They don't care that you may be from out of state. (could be wrong)

to the OP: 20% all around looks really nice! 5% is hard to see when you're backing up and definitely draws cop attention. 20% draws attention too, so you can always roll down your windows if you see a cop
