Oh god, what are they doing to san francisco...

I hate to tell all of you this but toll roads are all over the country, yes the idea is horse**** and stupid but people should pay a premium for coming to the city during commute hours because its not only SF that would benefit from less traffic but 101 & 280 on the peninsula. You don't think San Mateo County has their hands in this to clean up 101's congestion.

Jacking up the tolls will not change anything. Unless every person changes their work schedules its impossible to impose that change to correct the congestion. All the city is doing is milking you for your money. Originally a east coast native, having been back here the same congestion still exists all over. Costs have gone up and traffic has either stayed the same or worst overall. I don't see it being less congested anytime in the future because of raising tolls. I've been driving for 15 years and not once have I seen a imposed toll hike or new tolls serve the purpose of lessening congestion.

SAN FRANCISCO -- A proposal to charge a $6 commuter entrance fee for motorists entering San Francisco from the south has been scrubbed by the Board of Supervisors.
The proposal had called for charging commuters a toll of $6 to cross the San Francisco-San Mateo County during the morning and evening rush hours.
The San Mateo County Times says intense pressure from peninsula communities led supervisors to vote 9-2 on Tuesday to kill the plan. Peninsula leaders even threatened a retaliatory toll of $12 in what they called a border war.
