I got into the same situation with u, but I'm in Seattle. The cop gave me a $100 fined too. however, the cop told me that you could take a picture of the car with the front plate and take it to the magistrate. This will save your $100.

 

i got two of these - both in palo alto, where i work. just paid it - $75 apiece. let 'em have it - whatever, i say.
