Anyone planning or already signed up for this event? I'm really planning on doing this one. Just want to see if anyone else is going.

Well I'm registered for this event in the beginners yellow group. Some of the socal G35 guys will be there too. I encourage anyone who's interested at all in high performance driving or anyone who just wants to learn to be a better/safer driver overall to attend this event. It might not be cheap but it's definitely worth every penny. And it's damn fun to boot! Like 4DrSkyline said, LOTS of runoff space at Buttonwillow so you won't have to worry about walls and such. Hit me up if anyone is interested.

Okay guys, this thing is official. Here's the thread in the SoCal forum.
Please feel free to join on in, even if you won't be running. Spectators can get in free. Everyone I met last time was really friendly and helpful, especially for a newbie track guy such as myself. A good time was had by all and I definitely learned a lot of new things. This one line said by Clint definitely exemplifies how I felt after my first event.
"Virtually all of them will also tell you that they wonder why they haven't discovered this any sooner."
I just can't convey how great these events are. Definitely something one has to experience for themselves. If all this still doesn't convince you to go, then maybe the fact that the event is on a Fri and you would have to take a day off/play hookey will!

We know quite a few people who tracks their 'Auto-magic' boxed cars! There ain't no rule that says only MTs are allowed to to enjoy.

For newbies ... it's actually easier, because it's one less thing they need to worry about. Too often, durring my instruction ... I see newb MT drivers get tangled up and run wide at a corner because they are not use to juggling down shifts, braking, and turning all at the same time. Yes, these are decent MT drivers on the street! At the track ... it's a different ball game! FUN!

I still prefer doing my own shifting.

Seriously though, my first event at SOW was on a slushbox Eclipse using the manumatic. Good thing was I didn't have to concentrate on shifting too much and just had to acclamate myself to learning the lines. HUGE difference in my second event at Buttonwillow in my 6mt sedan. Better control but downshifting and braking into turns at high speeds needs some getting used to, especially if you can't heel and toe. Hopefully it won't be too big of a deal this time around and I can concentrate more on car control and lines.
