30k Service - Dealerships -

I scheduled an appoitment with MARIN INFINITI for this Saturday. It's the first time for me going there...Has anyone here dealt with Marin Infiniti?

I'm sick of PEN. INFININTI...they tried raking me again..this time they wanted $550.00 for the 30K service...last time they wanted $1,000.00+ for rear rotors and another $500.00 for the pads...i'm like what the f is going on?

Serramonted didn't do a very good job on my front brakes...still squeaking after 5,000 miles...composite bull crap...!

Got a " " for $449.00 for the 30K is that a good deal? + they won the award of excellence which is another reason why i'm going there...

I wanted to go to Oakland, but that's out of the way.

just wondering, but have you opened up your booklet to see whats involved with the 30k service? I did. And guess what? I realized that 85% of the stuff they do is complete bs. I even asked the service rep before he started the 30k if the things listed were necessary. You know what he said? He said absolutely not. So I asked him why would he do it and charge so much if its not necessary? He said that a lot of the customers would rather do it anyways because it makes them feel better knowing that its done. But, it is not necessary. So I said fine, how about you take out all the unnecessary things and do only what's necessary? He said no problem! He reduced the price from 550 to $200.

What unnecessry things should I tell him not to do then?
Most of it is just labor charges i'm sure...$500+ is a little much..there's nothing really wrong with the car...i haven't changed the oil in 5,000 and it still runs great...3,000 "recommended" oil change...just another way for them to make money huh...?

thanks for the advise

Finally fed up with Peninsula, huh? It all went downhill for me after they did my 30k service. I went to Oakland for my 45k service. They were very cool.

The 30K consists of mainly changing out all the vital fluids. Easy stuff you can do yourself in your own garage. The only hard thing is replacing the drive belts but at 30K I don't think it's necessary to replace them unless they warrant it. I bought my 6MT at Marin and they gave me $500 over invoice without any hassle. That $449 price is actually pretty good. Most places want $550+.

❏ Replace engine oil and filter
❏ Lubricate all locks/hinges
❏ Replace automatic transmission fluid
❏ Replace differential oil (except I35)
❏ Replace engine air filter
❏ Replace engine coolant/flush system
❏ Replace engine drive belts
❏ Replace in-cabin microfilter
❏ Replace manual transmission oil
❏ Replace radiator cap
❏ Replace wiper blades
❏ Rotate tires (except G35 coupe)
❏ Optional: flush automatic transmission (flush with ATF)
❏ Inspect the following:
__ All lights
__ Axle & suspension parts
__ Brake lines & cables
__ Brake calipers, pads, rotors
__ Cruise control vacuum hoses
__ Drive shaft boots
__ Exhaust system
__ Front suspension ball joints
__ Fuel lines/connections
__ Fuel tank vapor vent system hoses
__ Headlights/adjust if necessary
__ Propeller shaft (except I35)
__ Steering gear and linkage
__ Steering linkage ball joints

Z Car Garage does the 30K. Rob did mine using the factory check list for $150 a year ago. Call them!! He cannot do the auto tranny power flush though.

they replace the radiator cap/all drive belts, thats insane, I assume that should say inspects not replace. I work for another dealership, non nissan/infiniti, and they dont touch those things unless they look bad. No wonder its so much, thats a waste of money. All they should do is oil/tranny fluid/ air/ac filters, and inspect the rest. They hit you with the oil/gas additives, we have a 15-30K oil additives which is nothing you honestly need but our way of making a little more money. Something is wrong when they do the coolant at 30k also, we do it every 2-3 years or 60k. Go ask Z car garage there opinion. BTW its my last week at work, got a real job now so I will take bad all I want now that i've escaped.
