where do you guys wash your car?

hey guys, so i'm guessing a lot of you are like me, owning a G and living in an apartment. in fact i see 2 other g's in my complex every day. i don't believe we have hookups for hoses to do car washes here... and i'd guess most complexes don't, so how do you guys wash your cars? i've been looking at autopia.org and i really want to wash/wax my car by hand (black is beautiful but high maintenance).

if you don't wash/wax by hand, where do you take your car for a detail? how much does it run? i was thinking it might be interesting to have a meet up sometime and detail our cars (probably when the weather gets better).

my 5 day old G is showing some signs of dirt, but at least the dealer's wax caused all of today's rain to bead

The ONLY person that washes my car besides me is Phil from ADS-Mobile.

They do a top notch job- search around here for some reviews.

Call Phil @ 650-871-5453, and let him know that Boris sent you.

The shop is located in San Bruno.

Same as above, I'll actually be there on Saturday evening too. Prices are pretty good, about 25 or so for a hand wash/hand wax and the car is clean as hell afterwards.

I removed the crappy dealer wax the first time I washed my G about a month ago....regular Dawn Dish Soap will remove the wax pretty easily (that's what Zaino recommends for wax removal btw)

I then used a nice quality Meguiar's wax. No Zaino needed for my bright silver Coupe....

Last night was the first rain my new G's seen in the 6 weeks I've had it...gonna wash it this coming saturday....in my driveway.

Did you ever get the little bubbles in your tint fixed?

See you tomorrow.

Not yet, just too much of a pain to drop it off and bring another vehicle so I don't have to sit around. Eventually.

thanks for the tips guys! i scheduled an appointment with Phil for tomorrow afternoon. sounds like it's $80 up front to get the initial stuff off, cleaned, polished and waxed, then $20 for successive cleanings under his VIP program. hopefully i can get that initial cost down a bit but otherwise it sounds good to me. i'll post a review and pics soon. i'm getting my tint done on saturday too, whoohoo.

well, i'm not thrilled but part of it is my fault. i got there at 4:30 in the afternoon as it was starting to get dark and they started working on my car around 5. gave it a nice wash and it looked good. then he polished it and by the time it was done, 5:45, the car looked really dusty all around. he claimed the car was done and wouldn't wipe the dust off but instead gave me a microfiber diaper to do it myself.

he said if i found any swirls the next morning to call him and he would fix it. when i saw my car in some sunlight in the morning i noticed swirls in the back and water from the wash had run off from the handles and doors, leaving water trails of the polished dust all over the car. it looks pretty far from being clean. i called him about the swirls and he said he'll fix it when i bring it by next, so my plan is to take it up there again. the 60mi round trip to san bruno is a little annoying, but phil knows what he's doing. i hope he's more attentive to my car next time i go there.
