Wheel Offset Advice Needed

I've searched the Wheels and Tires forum already, but couldn't find exactly what I needed. Most of the links were broken, and I couldn't find the really good offset graphic.

I have a non-sport 04 sedan, so the wheels should be 17x7 with a 45mm offset. Would 18x8 wheels with a 30mm offset fit properly (no rubbing, clearance issues, etc.)? The offset calculator said that the wheels would be fine in clearing the strut housing (2mm more space), but that the outside edge would extend out an additional 28mm (1 1/4 inches). My car is lowered and I do have quite a bit of negative camber. Using a tape measure, it looks like the outside tire edge would line up with the fender edge nicely. Then again, I'd be switching to 245 series tires too, so that will probably make them stick out a little bit further.

The vendor claims they'll fit properly, but I'm still sceptical. Any advice? I'd prefer to get 19's, but they just aren't in my budget. Especially since I'd be spending about $1000/year on tires alone since I commute quite a ways to work each day. As an incentive, I will offer up one post count to anyone answering back.

Thanks ahead!

I think you will rub the fenders with that set-up, especially with 245 tires. It is VERY close. Maybe with the negative camber you could manage it. Sorry I can't give you a more definitive answer.

Thanks for replying, Eloy. Discount Tires Direct says it won't fit without a problem. However, they said that 18x9 with a 43mm offset wouldn't fit in the back. I was under the impression that 45mm in that size was the ideal for a sedan with a staggered setup. (???)

Hopefully they fit, because I ordered on them on Friday.

I'll post pictures of them (both off and on the car) when they arrive in a few days.

Just goes to show that the supposed "experts" don't always have the right answers. 18x9, +43mm would be fine in the rear, but 18x9 is too wide for the front. I hope I'm wrong about the rubbing, good luck!
