You will pay less money for the places by the freeway due to traffic. I advise not living on the eastside of 101. Pockets of bad areas. Sunnyvale is a reasonable area that is not very expensive and is close to many things. There are alot of place near Lawrence Expway that offer good rates and access to freeways.

It will all be up to you when you visit. Like you said, crash at ur freinds for a few weeks till you commit to a place. Do your homework and you will be very happy. Your judgment will help you decide....
There are some apartments just south of the 280 about 5 mins walk to santana row that are about 1300/month. The location seems good, and it's close to santana row. Do you think santana row is a place a mid 20's young professional can get out meet some ladies, and have fun?

I don't mind downtown PA, but the apts seem older. The ones near SR are brand new. Price is about the same. Which one is better for the younger crowd?

I'm looking to move up around may 1st.

I want to thank everyone for their help, I will let you know when I'm up there and maybe we can get some drinks after work someday.
I hope it works out for you. I really think you'll regret living in SF and working in the South Bay, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, I've come to that conclusion too. It's just not feasable, figuring gas and rent I'll be paying over 2000 a month for a 1 bedroom or studio.

Too bad . . . The night life/bar scene in the Marina/Fillmore area is incredible. Hehehe . . . The infamous Triangle.

I'll have to come up there to visit. Yes the nightlife is good, but the way I figure, I have to wake up at 6am to leave for work about 7:30 to get there around 9. Then I have to head home around 6pm to get home around 7-7:30. I figure I'll be too tired to enjoy the nightlife anyway.

Living closer to work, I will be able to enjoy the nightlife, even if it is lacking a little.

You can always drive up to The City on the weekends.
