Just remember to search for a few apts in a similar area to ensure that one complex is not jacking the prices up. You want to pay fair market value for the apt. You will pay less money for the places by the freeway due to traffic. I advise not living on the eastside of 101. Pockets of bad areas. Sunnyvale is a reasonable area that is not very expensive and is close to many things. There are alot of place near Lawrence Expway that offer good rates and access to freeways.
It will all be up to you when you visit. Like you said, crash at ur freinds for a few weeks till you commit to a place. Do your homework and you will be very happy. Your judgment will help you decide....

I don't mind downtown PA, but the apts seem older. The ones near SR are brand new. Price is about the same. Which one is better for the younger crowd?

From what I've read online these two areas seem to have a pretty decent nightlife. SF will cost about 300 dollars/month more because of gas, but I think it's worth it.
I'm looking to move up around may 1st.
I want to thank everyone for their help, I will let you know when I'm up there and maybe we can get some drinks after work someday.

I'll have to come up there to visit. Yes the nightlife is good, but the way I figure, I have to wake up at 6am to leave for work about 7:30 to get there around 9. Then I have to head home around 6pm to get home around 7-7:30. I figure I'll be too tired to enjoy the nightlife anyway.
Living closer to work, I will be able to enjoy the nightlife, even if it is lacking a little.
