Or can I get someone's number who is in the big cruise, and that way you can give me a heads up when you get close and I can jump in.
Now this isnt set in stone yet, but you probably could meet up with us at Santa Cruz, as we are planning on stop somewhere in S/C so the late risers and south bayer could join us for the rest of the drive...There arent many ways you could get to Hwy 1 from San Jose, down 17/880 to S/C or thru 84 or 92 and couple of samll routes off 35 and 9 which they arent quick way to get to Hwy1 anyways...I will post my number later on when we decided on the place to meet up along the way...are you settle in yet? how you like the place so far?

I was thinking about stopping at a vista point/rest stop just outside of Santa Cruz, which is just outside of Santa Cruz on hwy 1. This rest stop is just a short hop beyond where we jump back onto the freeway, as we drive straight through Santa Cruz via Mission St.

Carol and I drove past it the last time we went down to Monterey a few weeks ago. It appeared that this stop will accommodate at least 20 cars. That will be one of the stops during the dry run. There are a few things, which I need to check out.

Woooohoooo . . . A "Premier Member," eh?

Yes, David (liu621) is still here. I saw him posting on some threads just the other day. I know that he recently moved up to Elk Grove.

Is that vista point before we hit S/C?, what I am thinking is, if we stop before we get to S/C? we will be separated when we hit the traffic lights which there quite a few of them before we get on hwy1 again and pretty sure there will be lots of traffic around town, so if I may? I am sugguest that we stop somewhere after S/C, like Capitoal mall at 41st./capitoal rd. which is about three miles after 17/1 junction and its only two blocks from Hwy1 so we will have better chance to keep everyone togther...just a thought.

That was our concern, Shane. As we enter Santa Cruz, there will quite a few stop lights prior to the left turn at Chestnut to re-enter hwy 1. This rest stop, which is literally right along side of hwy 1, will afford everyone a quick break and for everyone to catch up due to the stop light delays in town. We can explore any options on the dry run, which anyone may have.

So far so good. The place is nice, pretty quiet, quite a few pretty girls (SJ Community College is half a mile away) but I haven't had a chance to explore much.

You're right, I'm looking at the maps, and although it would be fun to take the 84, there will be no way to catch you guys. I will prob end up taking the 17, and meeting you at the check point. Just be sure to post the address of the stop, so I don't miss it. Thanks!

BTW...I haven't forgotten about the drinks...let me know when.

Monterey Discovery/Dry Run . . . Tomororw . . . May 13, 2006

Okay, tomorrow there will be a discovery/dry run down to the Monterey Fisherman's Wharf. This is not the real run, which will be held on June 24, 2006. After this preliminary run, I will post the driving instructions. I need to nail down the location of the vista point rest stop after we leave the streets of Santa Cruz and re-enter hwy 1. I will be leaving the Serramonte parking lot at 11am. I will be at the old Good Guys parking lot, which is directly across from Mervyn's. Hope to see some of you there.
