Monterey Run . . . Saturday, June 24th

Well, I had not planned on having another Run/Meet quite so soon . . . But the last 2 Santa Cruz Runs were such a good time, I could not resist planning another one. A big "Thank You" to you all of you good folks, whom participated in the previous Santa Cruz Runs. Especially, Shane (limeg35), whom helped me on the very 1st run with the driving details, discovery fun run, and here on the G35Driver boards. Hehehe . . . And who can forget Shane's generosity at the Santa Cruz II Run luncheon? My wife, Carol, attended the last Santa Cruz Run . . . And she now realizes why I have such an attraction to these sort of events. It's because of All the wonderful people we have the pleasure to meet up with . . . That's all of you folks.

Soooo, let's get started.

The pre-run meeting place will be held at the Serramonte Shopping Center parking lot. We will start gathering together from 9am til 10am. This time we will park our cars at the old Good Guys parking area, which is across from Mervyn's. This will afford much less confusion to the 280 freeway access.

Per one of my previous posts, we went down to Monterey a fews weeks ago and looked at some restaurants for a group lunch. Having to consider the possibilty of another good sized turnout, we decided to have lunch at the Monterey Fisherman's Wharf. The parking lot there will hopefully provide parking for all of us in one location. Lunch will be at Gilbert's. They have offered us a large dining area with great views of the water. If our group manages to number above 60 people, they will afford us a private dining room, which is located upstairs. Either way, everyone should enjoy having lunch there.

I will post detailed driving instructions later. The route, which we will be taking is very simple. Many of you have made this drive plenty of times before. If so desired, some may decide to scramble down to Monterey, while others may prefer to caravan down to Monterey. It's up to you.

***Added on 5.14.06. The following is the Monterey Run driving route details. A big "Thank you!" to Carol and her nephew, Austin and everyones' buddy Shane. They all came along with me on this dry run. Thanks to Shane for having found a great staging area in the Capitola Mall. Thanks to my wife, Carol, for taking all of the many driving notes/details, as I drove. A special thanks to our nephew, Austin (7 years old), for keeping the drive lively and quite entertaining.

*** Please note that the Serramonte staging time has been changed to 9am to 10am from the originally posted time of 10am to 11am . . . And as such, we will be leaving the Serramonte parking lot at 10am. ***

Monterey Run Route Details

• 0.0 miles – Staging from 9am to 10am at the old Good Guys parking lot (Serramonte Shopping Center) which is located across from Mervyn’s, as you enter the main parking lot on Gellert Blvd.

• 20.0 miles – Left turn at the stop light onto Hwy 1/Santa Cruz.

• 65.0 miles – Note: You are now driving on the streets of Santa Cruz . . . Mission Street/Hwy 1.

For those whom are interested and would like to join me (Shane and Wes), I will be taking a drive down to Monterey on Saturday, May 13th. This is more of a discovery run, so that I can afford everyone detailed turn by turn instructions prior to the actual June 24th Monterey Run.

We'll meet up at the Serramonte Parking. From there we will head south on the 280 . . . Cross over the 92 headed west down to Half Moon Bay . . . Take the 1 south towards Santa Cruz . . . Drive through Santa Cruz . . . Left at Chestnut and merge back onto the 1 and head to the Monterey Fisherman's Wharf.

Hmmm . . . Those were the actual driving details of sorts. Hehehe . . . I guess I am just making an excuse to take a drive. Well, in any case, if you are interested . . . Simply PM me for more info.
