This is #16 - Paul. I just picked up my car yesterday from Oakland Infiniti so I am 100 percent down for the 24th. I will probably drive up to Daly City to meet everyone and follow the huge line down to Capitola and Monterey.

Question: I am not a mechanical guy so does anyone know of someone who has the pliers needed to change the shift **** on the 6MT, or know of someone who I can pay to do it for me?

Wow, I was busy helping someone else out with a meet that I dont really want to go to.....I will talk to the Z friends and see if they want to join this one, chances are im going this way instead of the other meet. I will caravan from either Sac or Fairfield Infiniti...Im in woodland.

Are you guys cool if I explode this on other Z boards I use besides my350z....I got a z32 and s30...one day a g35 after a house.....I can probably put a good 20 or so Z's on this list the next few weeks if you guys are interested.

Let me know here and I will give everyone I know the info....in fact I need to tell this G35 in Vacaville about it, she has been buggin for a drive.

Paul,

You need a pair of vice grips to hold the shifter shaft steady below the console plate while you turn the existing shifter **** loose. Attempting to remove the shifter **** without isolating the shaft may cause linkage damage, as per an Infiniti bulletin. I had to use a large slip joint Channel Locks gripped around the shift **** to remove it. The OEM **** was bruised a bit during the removal. My new shift **** simply screwed back on.

I have asked Colin to un-sticky this thread. It's going to a bit confusing with 2 threads running on the same subject with regard to the sign-up list. With the involvement of unknown numbers from other boards . . . I will not be planning on a count for lunch, as such. Next time, I'll be a bit more organized in the planning. It has just gotten a bit out of hand for me at the moment, which is more than I had planned for. Nontheless, this will definitely prove to be another excellent outing.

I'll be meeting up with a Z buddy of mine from the Salinas/Monterey area. He and his wife are one of the reasons that we travel that way so often. He recommended staging at the Home Depot off the Marina exit since our Z cousins are invited. I told him that there will be plenty of parking at the Capitola Mall. This run is getting better and better.

 

I also belong to the S2000 forum. They had a Monterey run today (sunday June 4). Apparently, the cops are on the look out.
you guys should watch out, take it easy, and don't do anything to draw too much attention to yourselves.
