Test Pipes/HFC's and Washington Emissions

So I dont really know much about emissions here in Washington, but im guessing it isnt like Florida where everything is cool. I assume if I got test pipes, I would have to swap them for my stock cats when emissions time came up? Any estimate on how long/hard it is to swap testpipes/cats?

I was thinking of getting the Fast Intentions HFC's but.. test pipes are so much cheaper....so... Hmmm

Thanks for any help!

HFC should let you pass emissions...TP's will not. It took me about 4 hrs on my own to swap Cats. (*I have a 350z...not sure how much different it is)

In washington, do they actually run you through the smog test, or do they just plug into your OBD-II slot to check for codes and emission failures. I know in oregon thats all they do for newer models, so if you get an 02 simulator and don't throw any codes then you can pass. I passed with a test pipe in my prelude because I wasn't throwing any codes at the time

also, if you have an 03 you won't have to worry about it until the cars is 5 years old, they don't require smog test until 5 years

Yes, Washington uses the OBD-II connection test.

My homeboy with a 02 S2K passed with a 02 simulator.. He's running custom full exhaust with SC. I'll get more info from him.

Hmmmm... do you think if it smells strongly of gas they will call me out on it? Also, when you swapped your cats, It can just be done with 2 jackstands right?

I heard both answer from many different friends, some said crowford HFC will pass smog and some told me crowford HFC won't pass smog in California with G35. Can anyone input me some more information on that because I want to purhcase HFC but I don't want to mess with smog later on.

Not sure, but this is the northwest section. I'm sure smog in Cali is different. HFC's probably won't pass visual if they notice them though since I don't think they have a CARB number

Emissions in MD

Gang,

I'm getting ready to get either the Crawford or Fast Intentions HFC's and wanted to see if anyone knows whether they'll pass the emissions test here in Maryland. We use the OBDII method, where the tester just plugs into the car and checks it out. Oh, I should also mention that I'll be putting the Crawford headers on too.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
B
