Infiniti of Kirkland: Mod Friendly?
I got my sedan up there a couple years ago from Tony and had a good experience. I've taken the sedan up there for service to avoid Beaverton and had a good experience.
Do any of you guys know how they react to mods. Beaverton get's their panties in a bunch at the site of a K&N drop in filter. I've got some mods on my coupe and I plan on driving up there for service, so just wondering.

Beaverton gets their panties in a bunch over a K&N drop in? Or are you talking about a cone? Either way, I guess that makes me glad I do all my own maintenence, as I was going to install the plenum and such eventually. Was going to wait to see how the 05' 6MTs get 295hp, and see if I can just order the "factory" part(s), to avoid warranty hassles

drop-in. Funny thing was that I was in for rattles and a pull to the right. No real reason check under the hood. The 'service manager' took the time to write that I was using the filter in case I had issues in the future.
It just so happened that a guy with a Q45 was shelling out $750 for a new MAF because of a K&N. Even though I know about the MM Act, I took it out the next day because I didn't notice any increase in power or fuel economy. It's not worth the hassle trying to fight it out with the dealer.

I think they frown on mods - but you should ask. I brought my G35C in for an oil change and some minor nit fixes and the guy I bought the car from brought up, unsolicited, that they had a G35 in service that blew its engine, and because the owner used some "aftermarket" stuff it wasn't under warranty. It seemed to be a warning of some sort...

Geez, how ridiculous. I'm supposed to feel like a criminal for having an intake? Give me a frickin' break.

Can any of you recommend someone in service over there to talk to. I bought my car there and bring it there for service but they have never been able to do anything more than make things worse, or not fix it at all. I am taking it in tomorrow to have somethings fixed and would love to know if there is anyone there who gets the job done right. I have brought my cruise control problem to them twice and they still have done nothing about it and said "it must be you" even after I drove all over Kirkland showing them the problem. Then the fixed the rattle in one door and gave it back to me with the rattle in the opposing door, NICE. Now of course I also have the elusive Rear Deck Creak/Suspension Creak. So any ideas on a good tech or service manager let me know.

As far as I know Infiniti of Tacoma/Fife is owned by the same people as Infinti of Kirkland, but they might have better technicians if you didn't like the service you got at Kirkland
Re: Infiniti of Kirkland: Mod Friendly?
Kirkland is pretty nice about mod, I think.. I had K&N Typhoon CAI and got 7500mile service... they liked my engine department
Re: Infiniti of Kirkland: Mod Friendly?
I just bought a G35 on July 4th from them. Great buying experience I have to say (Charlie Greenwood was the sales guy - very nice and very knowledgable).
They had a G35 6MT in the showroom with a Stillen catback exhaust and induction kit so I can't imagine they'd hassle anyone over that kind of mod. I mean what are they going to say to the customer that buys that specific one when he has problems: "Sorry, we voided your warranty with the stuff we put on"?
Although it can be a fight, the MM warranty act clearly says the burden of proof that the aftermarket part caused the problem is on the dealer/manufacturer. The parts you put on are "innocent until proven guilty" in other words. That law came about due to the BS copier, computer and printer companies used to use to void warranties if you didn't buy their overpriced OEM parts, toner, etc. On the other hand, clearly a turbo or superharger kit crosses the line if you blow the engine, but telling you your brake or stereo warranty is kaput because of the twin turbo kit you put on is not legit.
I have a Harley Fatboy and like 99.9999% of Harleys it has aftermarket pipes and a carb kit and other mods. None of the HD dealers I know of would even consider using that BS excuse to void a warranty. Now if you put in a big bore kit, ported heads, new cam, high compression pistons, etc. and your engine blew up from hard riding, I think they'd have a legit bone to pick on whether it's warranty or not.
But making you pay for a MAF sensor because of a K&N filter is total bullshit. By design a MAF sensor _reacts_ to _changes_ in the mass of air flowing through it . Duh!
