oregon speeding ticket

so i got a ticket for doing 92 in a 55. yes i know it was dumb, i actually never speed, but i was on a flat rural road, and i wanted to test the car. anyways i know it was dumb, so paying this ticket and letting it go on my record, how bad do you guys think this will affect my insurance? its been over 2 years since I have had my last speeding ticket. I must say my last two tickets I simply paid and plead guilty and had no affect on my insurance. I don't know what this ticket will do considering I was going so fast. Thanks in advance.

No reckless attached to that ticket? That fine must be $400

How long ago were the last 2? If they were a long time ago they might not count against you but if you have them within a certain time span they will bump your premium or even drop you all together.

also only one of those two were a speeding ticket (the one 2 yrs ago) ticket for going 65 in a 60, only 5 over, so pretty minor.

Hmmmm, well all I know is that insurance companies can drop you like a rock for pretty much any reason. Hell, after my small accident avoiding a red light runner (had to go up and over a curb to avoid collision) they paid for my repair, I paid my deductible and I thought all was well. A week after I got my G back from the shop I got a letter saying my insurance was canceled. Reason? When insurance inspector came to survey damage at body shop apparently noticed my car was lowered and blamo, they dropped me like a stone.

My buddy had his insurance company drop him after 3 tickets. Thats why I mentioned it. That was in CA though, so I don't know if other states would be any better or worse.

ckp, the reason that your tickets probably never affected your insurance is that they had no reason to ever "find out" that you had those tickets. some companies will run your record every year, but this costs $$ for insurance companies to do, so most companies dont. however, when you get into an accident or make a claim, your record gets run. so then they will find out about your tickets. the one from 5 years ago doesnt matter anymore, they stay for 3 years.

they might not even find out about this new one, but i would definitely defer it if you have not deferred any tickets already. you can defer a ticket once every 7 years. it won't go on your record ever if you do not get another ticket within 1 year of the one you deffered. you still have to pay the fine, but it never appears on your record. again, whether or not it appears on your record has nothing to do with your insurance company finding out.

hope that helps.

correct.

In the past when ever I've had any sort of ticket, I usually file for discovery and get the court date pushed back. Then I go over the evidence looking for an error or loophole to build a case on (assuming I'm guilty). If I don't have a leg to stand on, I just pray the cop fails to show.

At the bare minimium go to court plead for leniency. Make up some BS excuse, say you're sorry, and the judge might reduce it. I've gotten 2 reduced, and I've heard that sometimes they'll reduce it to a non-moving violation so it stays off your record and you just pay the fine. Definitely worth trying IMO
