Thanks for the compliment...I think it looks great too. The license plate thing is just tyring to maintain some level of caution. I'm sure it really doesn't matter except for peace of mind.

Yep, went to VTR. Got no overspray on my seats, door or rear panels. I'm very happy about that. Paid $226 including tax, they quoted some kid who came later with a Toyota Matrix $250.

It didn't look dark at first because the sun was shining directly through the front windshield but after I got home, it looked really good. Here are the pics:

Re: I'm Movin' Up

Just checked the Hual website and it looks like the next boat to arrive on the west coast leaves from Yokosuka (voyage 181 on the Hual Tracer) on June 24th and arrives July 10th in Tacoma and July 14th in LA. There is a good chance that our R orders will be on it!!!

Does anyone know for sure if Kirkland gets their cars from the Tacoma port or LA port?

Re: I'm Movin' Up

mc, sure would be nice to shave few days if dropped in Tacoma not to mention railroad dust. I got a response from Tony asking if we were on the ship inbound now and he doubted it but said to check back on Monday when, I guess, they get an update on order status. Getting excited. ...dean

Re: Wishful Thinking?

Mcleo19, I test drove the 218989 today. It has 160 miles on it. Ken said they don't drop off in Tacoma. Cali then trained to Portland and trucked up from there. I wonder if you could get it delivered in Portland. I'm 222051 so keep your eye out, if you don't mind. ...dean

Re: Wishful Thinking?

Dean, I take it they have VIN numbers available for our orders now? I will shoot an email over to Tony to check for it.

So you got to test drive one, eh? Did they say why it had so many miles on it? Well, supposedly the boats shipped out of Japan earlier this week, so hopefully it will be here soon

Re: Wishful Thinking?

mc, no VIN's yet. It appears the last 6 of the VIN is the order number. The test drive rig had miles on it because no one had bought it !! They have three coupes on the lot. Seems we might have a chance to work down from MSRP.

The test drive was nice. What a strong car. Circles pretty tight too. No increase interior noise with the sunroof tilted. I think the S2000 shifter is more precise and a shorter throw. It's weird having a 6th gear after driving a 5-speed forever.

But... I have to admit, I'm starting to have some 2nd thoughts. The price point is good but I'm wondering if I don't want to go a step further and get the SLK320 hardtop convertible.

As is, after seeing the picture of the factory (port) installed satellite antenna, I've Tony working to see if they can place the antenna on the rear deck by the speakers. If not, to scratch that from the order. If it comes in as ordered, I'll... I don't know what I'll do yet.

Even though the coupe is awesome and I'll be primary driver 95% of the time, I'm thinking about the extra opportunities of the SLK and sharing it more with the wife and 8 yr. old sidekick.

You know, if I didn't have such a d@mn long wait, I wouldn't be second guessing myself !! ...dean

Re: Wishful Thinking?

I hear ya on the second thoughts...but it is more on whether to get the 2004 rather than the 2003. I have also thought about a Denali, as the wife would like something more practical.

I did get in touch with Tony today, and was able to get my VIN!!! Looks like they will be here in the next 30 days, so you have some time to reconsider.

Re: Wishful Thinking?

mc, Rambo mentioned something about memory seats in the '04 coupes but I haven't seen that anywhere else. I'd skip the '03 for sure if that was the case and get the '04. Someone on FA said the Z only went up a couple hundred dollars however that may relate to the G coupe.

So you got the VIN, huh ?? I wonder why they didn't come out and tell me that when I'm standing there talking to them !! Maybe our cars aren't hooked up together after all. Sounds like yours, at least, is on the ship enroute. I'll hit him up for a VIN when he gives me the details on the sat. setup. ...dean

Re: Wishful Thinking?

Dean,

Any update on your decison with the G35c? Have you heard anything new regarding the ETA? I just checked the inventory, and it looks like Kirkland just got a shipment with VINS in the 223 range...

Re: Wishful Thinking?

mcleo19,
I cancelled my G order a week ago so I'm out of the loop for that info. I picked up a loaded black '03 Accord 6MT. It was my first choice due to the voice controlled system for the nav, climate and audio but they didn't make any with the nav. It's great, 10k less and I can use the nav. while driving. I'm slowly getting over the G's attributes of awesome styling, performance and warranty.

I had a custom clear bra put on (not the full hood) but most everything else for $600. Don't know what they'll ding you for the G but suspect it shouldn't be much more. If you're still interested in local assistance with that, I'd still be happy to help and check that out. ...dean
