I'm Movin' Up

Found out I'm now #5 on the 6MT wait list so should get in on Kirkland's May allocation. I put my deposit down on 3/29 and was #7 after the April allocation. The two that dropped out moved me up a month. Cool !! Expecting a late June/early July delivery. ...dean

Hey Dean, good to hear you made the list! Looks like we will be in the same allocation. I plan on getting a 6MT DG/G.

Re: I'm Movin' Up

White on black for me. Had to admit I was hootin' down the hallway after I read the news from Tony. Maybe we can hook up when you're here for the delivery. I'm going to ask the dealer for a price on a clear bra and tint but suspect they'll demand too much of a cut. We certainly know what the rough price 'should' be. ...dean

Re: I'm Movin' Up

Yeah, let me know if you find out anything about the clearbra and tint, as I would like to have the same done. I would definately like to have the clear bra taken care of before heading back to Portland, b/c with my luck, I would probably get a chip or two. I did mention is to Tony when I initially place the order, but we did not get more specific than that.

Re: I'm Movin' Up

Yep, it'd be my luck too. There is a 3M clear bra place that'll I could get us to meet at or near the dealer. The one we put on the with Jeep is yellowing a bit then I find, later, that it's typical for the 3M product on white so don't want to do that on the G. Probably get a redo or something for the Jeep. I'll scout around for the invici-shield product in this area. As far as tint, I need to review some of the forum threads for the right product. I'm thinking of 35% around except the front. Want to make sure I don't hamper the effectiveness of the radar detector. One thing I remember is to make sure the back window is done with one piece. We've plenty of time but I'll be jumping on this pretty quick. ...dean

FYI. Got a note from Tony at Kirkland. Sounds like he's making the rounds for someone looking for a white/black 6MT. ...dean

Re: I'm Movin' Up

mcleo19, found a place north about 20 minutes (15 for us) that'll do the Llumar metalized tint for $189. Still working on the clear bra. Looks like it'll take more work to run down the best product and deal than for the tint. Rough prices are in the $700 range. We'll see. ...dean

Hey dean, that sounds great for the window tint! I figured the clear bra would probably cost that much...though for that price it would be nice to have a custom install to eliminate as many seams as possible. Also, have you been looking at any other materials for the IP? There was a recent thread on it at the FreshAlloy forum:

Re: I'm Movin' Up

mcleo19, from what I've read, the Avery Dennison product is the only one to get for white but,so far, not too many shops using it yet but keying in on that one. For you, we're down to $560 for a full kit with StonGard w/20% discount. ...dean

Re: I'm Movin' Up

Dean, if you can find an installer willing to install a bra that they don't sell, I believe dynashield sells a Venture kit with very good coverage and supposedly looks best on white.

http://www.dynashield.com/productinformation.html

The guy who runs the place is name is Mike, and he has received some good reviews on freshalloy. It might be worth checking out.

As for the stongard for me, that is a pretty damn good price! BTW, do you know if they are including sales tax in those quotes? Also, do you know waht coverage that Stongard kit they are offering has? Finally, that is awesome that you were able to get a 20% discount, how did you get that?
-Mike

Can you tell me the name of the place that's doing the tint? I'm looking for a good place to get my ivory pearl sedan tinted.

Re: I'm Movin' Up

mcleo19, 20% off seems to be a promotion. Does not include tax. I've got to narrow down when labor is included. Looks like the custom kit is another $150. Sheesh, I hope we can do better than $700 for complete protection !! It might be better to buy the custom pieces and do them ourselves. Looks simple enough for relatively flat smaller areas. The front end seems to be the 'experience required' section.

Checked on the Venture, looks like a little lesser quality product; no shiny finish and shrinks. I found one site that has the Avery product pre-cut. I'm not too concerned with edge curls on the front, just the doors and wheel wells. I appreciate you keeping an eye out for the IP. ...dean

Re: I'm Movin' Up

For those who ordered from Kirkland, has anyone receive their order number for this month's allocation yet?
