Increased Oil Consumption

I have a lightly-modded 2004 G35 coupe 5AT, and I'm experiencing some oil consumption issues... does anyone else have oil consumption issues or did you in the past? And short of a rebuild or buying a new engine, have you found any remedies ie heavier weight oil/removing breather mods etc?

update

Started using 10w30 (not synthetic), things are great =)

One in three G's has oil consumption issue, it is covered by infinity waranty. You might be out of luck, because of all the mods. Still might be worth it to see if dealership will start oil consumption test.

shank got a free motor because of it, but with the 2004 you're 99% out of luck in regards to warranty.. Just check it and add oil

Easy fix, convince a dealer to let you "test drive" a car overnight...then lets swap the motors

Hehe, sorry bro how bad are you burning?

My 2006 6MT had the oil consumption issue and I got a new motor, no charge but I was still under warranty (this was about 2 yrs ago). However, if I'm not mistaken the TSB was issued only for 05-06 vehicles with manual transmissions as the manual tranny versions had the VQ35DE 'Rev-up' variant of motor which had the problem. It was my understanding that the automatic tranny vehicles used the non Rev-up motor and shouldn't have the issue. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong...

Sucks that your motor's drinking oil tho, I feel for ya. Mine personally was burning about 1.5qt per 3750m before the swap. I can say from experience that hard driving definitely made it drink more oil. Maybe lighten the lead foot (assuming you regularly drive your car 'enthusiastically')..

Most your info is correct, except the OC issue is widespread across the Infiniti line up, however only a few qualified for engine replacement under warr...See "Fightclub insurance calculation"

And yes, he does drive like a damn madman lol but it sounds too good NOT to

how much is it burning?

i've had luck using thicker oil like German Castrol 0w-30 from autozone
or mix 4 quarts of M1 5w-30 w/ a quart of 0w-40... top off with 0w-40 if needed..

i noticed that my car burns Edge 0w-30 pretty fast.. it is pretty thin... and shears too much..
